Investment Officer - Luxembourg Headquarters

About the Role

This position is located at the European Investment Bank's headquarters in Luxembourg and mandates regular office attendance. The EIB provides a diverse international workplace with relocation assistance to support new hires.

Serving within the Operations Directorate's Equity, Growth Capital and Project Finance Department, specifically the Deep Tech, Digital & Life Sciences Equity & Growth Capital Division's Co-Investment Unit, the Investment Officer will play a pivotal role in managing equity-based co-investment operations aligned with EIB objectives.

Responsibilities

• Originating, executing, and overseeing equity-type co-investment transactions to support EIB’s lending activities.
• Ensuring timely transaction delivery with comprehensive risk evaluation and adherence to the Bank's policies.
• Supporting the deployment and monitoring of co-investment facilities, assessing opportunities and overseeing investments until portfolio management transition.
• Contributing to the development of processes, operating models, and tools relevant to equity and quasi-equity co-investment products.
• Maintaining active engagement with internal teams and external stakeholders to foster collaboration.
• Managing co-investments alongside partners such as corporate venture arms, EIF, national investment partners, particularly within innovation, infrastructure, and climate sectors.
• Coordinating monitoring of existing co-investments and contributing to reporting tasks and procedural improvements.
• Innovating solutions to enhance operational efficiencies including approval, blending, and disbursement workflows.

Qualifications

• University degree equivalent to at least a Bachelor’s in Finance, Economics, Business Administration, Accounting, Engineering, or related fields.
• Minimum five years of relevant professional experience including direct or indirect equity/quasi-equity investments, investment structuring, execution, or portfolio management.
• Proven experience working collaboratively within wide investment-related networks.
• Preferable experience within innovation-driven, digital, infrastructure, climate, or energy sectors.
• Strong knowledge of financial products, structures, and corresponding legal considerations.
• Good comprehension of the EIB’s mission, context, and operating frameworks.
• Fluency in English and/or French, with good command of the other language; additional EU language skills are advantageous.

Additional Information

This is a permanent full-time role at grade 5. Interviews are expected in September 2026. The appointment reports to the Head of Unit and involves regular interaction with various EIB divisions and departments.
