Chief Executive Officer (CEO) – Scale-Up / Social Impact

About the Organization and Role

We are an established, impact-driven non-profit foundation experiencing growth and searching for a seasoned, strategic, and action-oriented leader to take on the role of Chief Executive Officer. This entity operates at the nexus of business, society, and politics to influence sustainable behavioral and systemic change with a focus on animal welfare, planetary health, agricultural and nutritional transformation, advocacy, and environmental policy. The organization is headquartered in Berlin and comprises approximately 40 employees.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide overall operational leadership and translate the long-term vision into strategic priorities, quantifiable milestones, and optimized processes to ensure high performance.
• Lead and develop the executive management team and department heads, fostering a unified, effective leadership group and a progressive feedback culture while strengthening organizational resilience.
• Represent the organization confidently in engagements with key stakeholders across business, politics, media, philanthropy, and partner organizations.
• Manage resources strategically to guarantee that budgeting and spending achieve the maximum possible impact.
• Collaborate closely and transparently with the supervisory board to uphold robust risk management practices and transparent reporting standards.

Qualifications and Competencies

• At least five years of pertinent leadership experience in strategic roles, preferably within NGOs, foundations, public affairs, advocacy sectors, or impact-focused corporate or consultancy environments.
• Proven experience in leading senior leaders and interdisciplinary teams.
• Expertise in modern work methodologies and digital collaboration platforms such as Asana, Monday, or Jira, alongside confident and thoughtful utilization of AI tools in management routines.
• A values-driven, resilient, and solution-oriented mindset with the ability to inspire others toward a clear societal mission.
• Excellent command of German (C2 level) and strong proficiency in English (C1 level).
