About the Role
This position is situated at the European Investment Bank's headquarters in Luxembourg, requiring consistent office attendance. The EIB provides the chance to work in a diverse international environment and offers relocation assistance.
The Investment Officer will be part of the Operations Directorate's Equity, Growth Capital and Project Finance Department within the Deep Tech, Digital & Life Sciences Division, specifically in the Co-Investment Unit. This is a permanent Grade 5 position.
Primary Responsibilities
- Lead the origination, monitoring, and management of equity-type co-investment deals that support the Bank’s lending activities and objectives.
- Ensure timely and high-quality transaction execution including risk evaluation, due diligence, and adherence to EIB policies.
- Support deployment and evaluation of co-investment facilities, and oversee portfolio monitoring until transition to Portfolio Management and Monitoring.
- Contribute to product and process innovation by developing new templates, procedures, platforms and improving equity co-investment operations.
- Engage and maintain collaborative relationships with internal teams and external partners in the investment ecosystem.
Operating Environment
The Investment Officer reports to the Head of Unit and interfaces regularly with various divisions within the EGPF department and other EIB units. Key accountabilities include managing co-investment volumes with a focus on risk and policy alignment, transaction monitoring, implementing improved operational tools, and fostering external relationships.
Key Accountabilities
- Manage equity co-investment transactions in partnership with corporate venture arms, EIF, national and policy investment bodies across innovation-focused, infrastructure, and climate sectors in Europe.
- Coordinate monitoring of active co-investments.
- Assist in establishing and applying reporting systems, methodologies, and tools.
- Develop practical solutions to streamline approval, blending, and disbursement processes.
Qualifications and Experience
- University degree equivalent to Bachelor's, ideally in Finance, Economics, Business Administration, Accounting, Engineering or related fields.
- A minimum of five years’ experience in equity or quasi-equity investments, including assessment, structuring, execution, or portfolio oversight.
- Proven ability to collaborate with diverse investment stakeholders.
- Experience with innovation, digital, infrastructure, climate or energy sectors is advantageous.
- Strong knowledge of financial structures, products, and legal aspects.
- Understanding of EIB’s mission, operations, and political framework.
- Fluency in English and/or French is essential; proficiency in both languages is required for advancement. Knowledge of other EU languages is beneficial.
