Position Overview
We seek an Investment Banking Analyst to join the Power, Utilities & Infrastructure team within National Bank of Canada Capital Markets in Toronto. This role involves leading responsibilities in supporting deal execution and pitch preparation, alongside senior team members, while expanding knowledge across various capital market functions.
Key Responsibilities
- Analyze financial requirements of corporate clients through detailed valuation and complex financial modeling.
- Assist deal teams in structuring transactions and progressively handling advisory and financing duties with greater responsibility.
- Develop presentation materials that aid clients in making capital-related decisions.
- Create marketing content for deals, including investor presentations and official documentation.
- Conduct extensive research on companies and industry sectors.
- Support senior colleagues in executing deals and managing client relationships.
Team Context
The Capital Markets division is a comprehensive and integrated investment dealer with significant presence in North America. The Investment Banking group consists of over 170 experts across multiple offices and has experienced strong deal flow growth recently. The Power, Utilities & Infrastructure team is seeking a skilled analyst based in Toronto who demonstrates strong analytical and client interaction capabilities.
Qualifications
- Minimum one year of experience in investment banking, transaction advisory, equity research, or capital markets.
- Undergraduate or graduate degree preferred in finance, accounting, economics, or engineering, coupled with a strong academic record.
- Solid understanding of financial theories, accounting principles, and capital markets operations.
- Knowledge or experience specific to the power, utilities, and infrastructure industries is advantageous.
- Proven ability in building sophisticated, dynamic financial models, ideally including project finance.
- Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.
- Familiarity with Bloomberg and Capital IQ platforms considered beneficial.
- Strong problem-solving skills, teamwork orientation, and collaborative mindset.
- Excellent interpersonal skills fostering trusted relationships.
- Outstanding verbal and written communication capabilities.
