Job description
About the Firm
Our client is a well-established global private equity and growth fund managing multi-billion dollar institutional capital. The investment focus is on fast-growing, technology-driven companies with strong market standings, unique products, and the capacity to expand internationally. Key sectors include software, data, digital infrastructure, and technology-enabled business models across various markets. The investment philosophy prioritizes selectivity and research rigor, concentrating efforts on a limited number of high-conviction portfolio companies to add value beyond capital infusion.
Role Overview
The London-based Investment Associate will be integral to the European investment team, engaging across the entire investment process. This role encompasses thematic research, proprietary deal sourcing, in-depth company assessment, transaction execution, and portfolio management. Unlike junior roles limited to modelling or administrative tasks, this position calls for independent investment viewpoints, active participation in senior discussions, and extensive networking within Europe’s technology ecosystem.
Key Responsibilities
- Spot and appraise high-potential technology firms across Europe.
- Develop and refine investment themes related to software, AI, data, digital infrastructure, and tech-enabled services.
- Conduct market landscape mapping, competitive analyses, and detailed company research.
- Build comprehensive financial models; evaluate valuation, growth prospects, margins, retention rates, and investment returns.
- Examine recurring revenue frameworks, unit economics, and go-to-market effectiveness.
- Support various due diligence processes—commercial, financial, technical, and operational.
- Prepare materials for investment committee review and deliver presentations to senior stakeholders.
- Assist in structuring, negotiating, and executing investment transactions.
- Forge and maintain relationships with technology founders, executives, advisers, and investors.
- Collaborate with portfolio companies on international growth, commercial strategies, mergers and acquisitions, and senior recruitment.
- Monitor portfolio health and identify opportunities for follow-on investments.
Candidate Profile and Experience
Ideal backgrounds include technology growth equity, venture capital, private equity, technology-focused investment banking or M&A advisory, and top strategy consultancies with relevant technology/PE experience. Typically, candidates should have between two and five years of related experience.
Required expertise includes a solid grasp of technology companies and digital models, strong financial modelling and valuation acumen, and experience evaluating software, data, AI, or technology-enabled firms. Candidates must understand subscription-based revenue, customer retention, unit economics, and sales efficiency metrics.
Additionally, strong commercial judgement, excellent communication skills, ability to engage directly with company leadership and investors, and a passion for emerging technologies are vital. Intellectual curiosity, entrepreneurial mindset, independence in thought, collaborative spirit, and eagerness to take on substantial responsibilities early in their career round out the profile.
