Job description

Role Summary

This position supports the International Compliance and Anti-Money Laundering (AML) team, collaborating with compliance teams across branches in Qatar, UAE, Kuwait, and India to ensure strict adherence to relevant regulations, laws, and internal policies. The role involves coordinating compliance and AML/Counter-Terrorist Financing (CFT) inspections, overseeing corrective action implementations, and assisting in preparing and submitting regulatory and management reports on time. The officer contributes to identifying and escalating compliance breaches and helps administer the bank's Compliance, AML, CFT, and Sanctions programs to align with regulatory standards and internal policies.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in developing and executing compliance and AML/CFT inspection plans for overseas branches with proper tracking and escalation.
  • Work closely with overseas compliance teams to assess the effectiveness of systems, policies, and controls in mitigating compliance and AML/CFT risks.
  • Coordinate timely submission of records and follow up on central bank inspection reports and action plans in compliance with local regulatory requirements.
  • Monitor and report observed violations and recommend measures to prevent recurrence.
  • Ensure timely completion and submission of periodic reports per local regulations and procedures to relevant stakeholders.
  • Support adherence to internal compliance mandates and facilitate prompt resolution of issues identified.
  • Manage the annual outbound Due Diligence AML Questionnaire for Exchange Companies, reviewing responses and flagging concerns.
  • Contribute to delivering targeted internal training on regulatory updates, policies, and procedures related to Compliance and AML/CFT.
  • Support periodic review and gap analysis of international Compliance & AML/CFT policies ensuring alignment with Qatar Central Bank (QCB) and other local regulatory AML laws and guidelines.
  • Coordinate with overseas compliance teams and external consultants to gather information for head office exercises such as Annual Risk Assessment and AML/CFT reviews, ensuring completion and addressing observations.
  • Follow up continuously to resolve pending issues and keep management informed on inspection outcomes.
  • Guide teams on region-specific Compliance and AML/CFT mandates as applicable.
  • Assist in investigating compliance incidents, performing root cause analysis and supporting corrective actions collaboratively to prevent recurrences.
  • Ensure compliance with Doha Bank policies, procedures, controls, Netreveal Process Management, and AML/CFT policies across overseas branches.
  • Support the implementation of annual inspection plans including pre-inspection, field, and post-inspection activities aligning with approved schedules.
  • Assist overseas teams in collecting and documenting information to satisfy regulatory requirements.
  • Provide coordination and administrative support during regulatory inspections.
  • Prepare and review reports and inquiries for timely submission to regulators relevant to overseas operations.
  • Submit all required reports related to overseas branches to the Qatar Central Bank promptly.
  • Review new products concerning compliance and AML/CFT, highlighting identified gaps to stakeholders.
  • Support preparation and review of inspection reports for submission to head office committees.
  • Assist with QCB reviews related to overseas branches in coordination with the Chief Compliance Officer.
  • Handle additional projects or tasks as assigned by the Head of International Compliance & AML or Chief Compliance Officer.
  • Maintain confidentiality, professional ethics, and integrity at all times while following audit, compliance, and procedural controls established by management.

Educational Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Banking, Finance, Economics, or related fields.

Experience

  • Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in financial services or banking sectors.
  • Previous involvement in Compliance, Regulatory, AML, or CFT functions is mandatory.
