Role Overview
This role is an excellent opportunity for an experienced professional motivated by a fast-paced litigation setting and collaborative teamwork. The firm is expanding and invites applications for the Intermediate Legal Administrative Assistant position to join the Vancouver office.
Key Qualifications and Skills
- Graduation from an accredited Legal Administration Assistant, Paralegal, or Law Clerk program
- Comprehensive understanding of legal principles, court procedures, and rules
- At least five years of litigation experience, ideally within insurance defence litigation
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office applications
- Experience with electronic file management systems, preferably iManage
- Familiarity with the Elite 3E system
Primary Responsibilities
- Manage and coordinate calendars, meetings, and appointments efficiently
- Draft, format, proofread, and dispatch various communications
- Open and close client files while maintaining meticulous records
- Conduct conflict checks and legal searches
- Maintain client and matter lists regularly
- Prepare high volumes of legal documents and correspondence
- Schedule court dates and discovery sessions; liaise with registries
- Organize and prepare documents and materials for legal proceedings
- Operate and maintain an effective electronic file management system and BF system
- Compile litigation budgets
- Perform various administrative support tasks such as arranging couriers, faxing, scanning, copying, and maintaining paper and digital filing systems
- Carry out additional duties as assigned
