About the role
REM Waste is a waste management business based in the UK, serving more than 750 suppliers across the country. The company is growing its commercial team and is looking for a Commercial Inbound Sales Closer to manage inbound enquiries from trade and commercial clients such as builders, groundworkers, roofers, and contractors. This is a no-cold-calling position. Your job is to answer the call, understand the customer’s needs, secure the sale, and expand the account.
This is not a simple order-processing role. Success in this position means identifying the real job the customer is working on and matching them with the most suitable solution.
What you will do
- Handle inbound calls from trade and commercial customers placing orders for skips and grab hire.
- Assess the caller’s situation, including the type of job, project size, and overall requirement.
- Convert the enquiry into a sale during the same call.
- Move customers onto the company’s commercial ordering platform, which supports one-click exchanges plus ESG and spend reporting, and earn commission for each successful conversion.
- Recommend the right add-on products for the work involved, such as aggregates, stone for backfill, diggers, welfare units, chutes, and similar items.
- Manage your own follow-up activity and sales pipeline in HubSpot.
Who you are
- You bring at least 3 years of experience in B2B, commercial, or trade-focused phone sales.
- You are comfortable uncovering needs, closing deals, and growing accounts rather than simply taking orders.
- You can lead a consultative sales conversation and recognise opportunities to upsell.
- You stay organised with CRM updates and follow-up discipline.
- You work well on your own and take responsibility for targets.
Not suitable for this role if
- You only process orders and wait for customers to tell you exactly what they want.
- Your background is limited to B2C sales and you cannot handle commercial conversations.
- You need close daily supervision to stay on task.

Working arrangement
This position is set up as a freelance contractor role on a UK contract. You will work remotely from a suitable quiet workspace and submit a monthly invoice for your basic pay plus commission, which is paid into your bank account each month.
Hours and schedule
This is a full-time role on a five-day working week. The rota runs Monday to Saturday, with working hours from 08:00 to 17:00 BST.
Equipment and technical requirements
You will need a computer that is no more than 2 years old and has at least 8 GB RAM so the call software runs smoothly and calls do not drop. A call-centre style headset with microphone is also required, along with dedicated fibre broadband.
Language requirements
You must speak fluent, clear English. Previous experience on UK-market calls is preferred.
