Role Overview

A highly reputable Legal500 top-tier law firm is recruiting for an experienced Immigration Level 2 Accredited Solicitor to join as a Director. The position offers leadership opportunities managing and supervising solicitors, trainee solicitors, and caseworkers. The firm has extensive expertise in immigration law, dealing with complex asylum cases, appeals up to the Supreme Court, and a wide range of immigration services for both EEA and non-EEA clients.

Primary Duties

  • Collaborate directly with the Board to meet performance and business objectives.
  • Provide expert immigration legal guidance and technical support across the department.
  • Lead and oversee Solicitors, Trainee Solicitors, and Caseworkers in managing diverse and complex caseloads.
  • Support the delivery of training and professional development within the immigration team.
  • Handle varied immigration cases including detained clients, trafficking and torture victims, asylum applications and appeals, entry clearance, and judicial reviews.
  • Manage and prepare Legal Aid funding applications.
  • Draft documents such as witness statements and coordinate evidence collection.
  • Prepare and submit applications and related Home Office documentation including letters of representation.
  • Attend client conferences and court hearings as needed.
  • Demonstrate a proactive approach with excellent client service skills and contribute to business development and marketing efforts.

Key Qualifications and Skills

  • Must hold a current and valid Practising Certificate.
  • Registered with Level 2 Accreditation in Immigration & Asylum Law from the Law Society.
  • Motivated to deliver high-quality client services with strong management and leadership experience.
  • Ability to foster a collaborative team environment and encourage positive change and cross-referrals.
  • Track record of supervising legal teams and meeting key performance targets.
  • Skilled in handling sensitive and complex immigration matters empathetically.
  • Strong interpersonal, networking, and communication skills combined with a business development mindset.
  • Experienced in handling both publicly funded and privately funded immigration cases.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of all immigration law aspects including some adoption law experience.
  • Advocacy experience is beneficial.
  • Proficient IT skills, especially with Microsoft Office applications and document management systems.
