Role Overview
Breakthru is delivering the Inclusive Employment Australia (IEA) program across New South Wales and Queensland, funded by the Department of Social Services. As an IEA Career Coach, based in Ayr, you'll empower individuals with disabilities, injuries, or health conditions to prepare for and attain fulfilling employment. Working within a collaborative team, you will support clients through career planning, skill development, confidence-building, and job application processes — all aimed at sustainable career outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
- Engage closely with clients to plan and support their career progression and job search efforts.
- Establish strong relationships to understand each client’s unique strengths, aspirations, and support needs.
- Provide tailored coaching, maintain regular follow-ups to promote client motivation and advancement.
- Facilitate access to upskilling opportunities, practical experiences, and group activities.
- Partner with employers and community services to create employment and training pathways.
- Achieve or exceed performance targets set internally and externally.
- Upkeep Breakthru’s core values including inclusion, empowerment, and person-centred approaches.

You should bring empathy, enthusiasm, and an earnest commitment to making a positive difference through employment services. Confidence in supporting, motivating clients, and forging trust-based relationships is essential. The role requires an outcome-driven mindset, excellent organisational skills, and the ability to thrive in a dynamic, client-focused environment.
You will excel at assessing each client’s strengths and challenges, coaching them effectively to enhance career readiness. Additionally, your engagement with employers to understand their requirements and match-fit candidates will be crucial. Superior communication, stakeholder management, and meticulous record-keeping are key attributes required, along with professional integrity and a strong focus on inclusive, person-centred service delivery.
Mandatory Requirements
- Preferred qualifications in Employment or Human Services such as Mental Health, Psychology, or Social Work.
- Experience working within employment services aiding those with disabilities, injuries, or health conditions.
- Demonstrated ability to meet KPIs and design client-focused employment and skills development plans.
- Proficient in promoting clients to employers and facilitating group-based programs.
- Strong skills in communication, problem-solving, and stakeholder engagement.
- Up-to-date knowledge of disability legislation, support mechanisms, and current labour market trends.
- Holding a valid driver's license and access to a personal vehicle is essential.
