Role Overview

This opportunity is for a Hydrology, Stormwater & Flooding Engineer to join our national water team, primarily based in Christchurch or Wellington, with other locations considered for suitable candidates.

Key Responsibilities

• Support delivery of diverse infrastructure and advisory projects throughout planning, investigation, modelling, and design stages.
• Perform hydrological and hydraulic analyses including catchment modelling and flood risk assessments.
• Contribute to the design of stormwater systems and integrated water management solutions.
• Build and maintain strong client relationships to achieve project goals and high satisfaction.
• Prepare detailed reports, correspondence, and required project documentation.
• Execute both office-based and site activities, collaborating with teams nationally and internationally.
• Mentor and provide guidance to graduate engineers on project tasks.

Candidate Profile

We seek a developing professional with a solid technical base eager to enhance expertise in hydrology and water engineering. You should demonstrate curiosity, collaboration, accountability, and a commitment to community and environmental benefits.

Qualifications and Skills

• Minimum four years’ experience in hydrology, stormwater, or flood modelling within consulting or infrastructure contexts.
• Proficient with hydrological and hydraulic modelling software such as HEC-HMS, HEC-RAS, InfoWorks, Tuflow, or equivalents.
• Familiarity with New Zealand standards, regulations, and guidelines pertaining to stormwater and flood management.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving abilities and excellent attention to detail.
• Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines efficiently.
• Proactive mindset and accountability for tasks and projects.
• Self-driven, energetic, and adaptable to varying challenges.
