Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and participate in developing comprehensive environmental assessments and preparing planning approval applications for multidisciplinary projects.
  • Manage routine projects as a Project Manager, ensuring effective collaboration with stakeholders and delivering a positive client experience.
  • Collaborate with a nationwide team of planners, provide mentorship and support to junior planners, helping them grow professionally.
  • Take the lead in preparing proposals, identifying business development opportunities, and maintaining client relations in a client-facing capacity.
  • Engage in ongoing professional growth through mentoring, training, professional organization involvement, and participation in global technical communities.
  • Contribute to GHD's diverse and inclusive culture, with flexible work arrangements to promote work-life balance.
  • Optionally, apply or enhance expertise in community and stakeholder engagement by creating and implementing consultation and engagement strategies.

Candidate Profile

  • Possess a Bachelor's Degree and at least eight years of experience in environmental planning.
  • Be a full member or actively working towards full membership of the New Zealand Planning Institute (NZPI).
  • Demonstrate a proven technical planning background within local/regional government bodies or the private sector, with experience in consenting infrastructure projects.
  • Have project management skills, including managing finances, budgets, and scheduling.
  • Exhibit client management and business development experience.
  • Community and stakeholder engagement experience is beneficial.
  • Display excellent verbal and written communication abilities.
  • Be proactive, decisive, and capable of effective problem-solving.
  • Possess strong analytical thinking, with a self-driven, energetic work ethic.
  • Value collaboration with other technical disciplines and the ability to generate integrated solutions for multidisciplinary projects.
