HSEW Officer

Overview

AtkinsRéalis is seeking a dedicated Health, Safety, Environment and Welfare (HSEW) Officer to oversee compliance and implementation of safety protocols for our site team in Abu Dhabi. This role demands rigorous enforcement of internal and project-specific HSE standards and active collaboration with contractors to ensure a safe working environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Implement and uphold AtkinsRéalis’ internal HSE management systems and project-specific HSE requirements across site operations.
• Monitor all WSA personnel for adherence to safety standards and company policies, reporting any breaches to the Project Manager promptly.
• Evaluate contractor and subcontractor adherence to HSE obligations defined in contracts and legal frameworks.
• Promptly escalate significant safety concerns to the Project Manager for resolution.
• Organize and conduct regular safety training sessions for the WSA workforce.
• Lead daily site inspections alongside contractor HSE staff to identify and communicate safety observations.
• Author Safety Enforcement Notices in line with AtkinsRéalis procedures and pursue satisfactory remedial actions.
• Review and provide feedback on contractor safety plans, risk assessments, and work methods, recommending necessary updates.
• Develop and maintain AtkinsRéalis’ HSE documentation, including safety files and site-specific risk assessments.
• Investigate accidents and incidents involving AtkinsRéalis employees, compiling detailed reports and statistics.
• Chair weekly safety meetings with contractors and stakeholders, producing minutes of meeting within 48 hours.
• Maintain thorough records of HSE training, inductions, inspections, accidents, and related safety documentation.
• Immediately notify Health and Safety Manager and Line Manager of any site accidents.
• Coordinate with and seek guidance from the UAE Health and Safety Manager as necessary.

Candidate Profile

• HSE qualification at the minimum of NEBOSH Diploma/IGC standard.
• Certified lead auditor for ISO45001 and ISO14001 standards.
• Professional membership with IIRSM or IOSH preferred.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills in English.
• Able to work independently or lead a small group, with adaptability to Middle Eastern site environments.
• Experience as a site supervision consultant is required.
• Mandatory previous work experience within the Middle East region.
