About the role

In this full-time store careers role, you will report to the Team Lead - Home Delivery and help ensure groceries and other goods are delivered accurately and on time from Thrifty Foods locations to homes and businesses.

This position is based at 9464 Longwood Station Thrifty in Nanaimo, BC, Canada (postal code V9T 6L8). The role involves a travel requirement of 0% to 10%.

Key duties

You will be responsible for protecting the condition and safety of all items in transit, handling payments, balancing accounts at the end of the workday, and providing friendly, reliable service that keeps customers satisfied. The job also requires strong judgment, teamwork, and professionalism while supporting the Thrifty Foods team.

• Plan deliveries so orders arrive within the scheduled time window.
• Load orders carefully, check them for accuracy, and make sure they remain secure during transport.
• Stay in regular contact with dispatch and respond to routing or pickup instructions.
• Pick up buggies when directed and complete the required paperwork.
• Separate dirty totes from clean ones and notify COMP about totes that need attention.
• Fill out cleaning logs whenever required.
• Accept clean plastic bags from customers and return them to the store recycling bag for clean bags.
• Follow company policies and procedures with a strong working knowledge of Thrifty Foods standards.
• Carry out daily vehicle checks and keep mileage and maintenance records up to date.
• Complete all cash-handling steps accurately and balance accounts at the end of each day.
• Keep the delivery vehicle clean, safe, and presentable, and report equipment or safety issues immediately.
• Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections to ensure the vehicle remains compliant with company and regulatory requirements.
• Maintain a clean driving abstract.
• Complete stock transfer forms for all transfer activity.
• Attend quarterly driver meetings.

Requirements

• Strong understanding of safe vehicle operation and delivery procedures.
• Ability to handle cash and complete reconciliation tasks accurately.
• Good customer service skills, including a courteous and dependable approach.
• Capability to manage time well and coordinate deliveries efficiently.
• Comfort with routine vehicle checks, inspections, and recordkeeping.
• Ability to work in line with company rules and regulatory standards.
• Clean driver’s abstract.

Compensation and benefits

The pay range for this position is $18.25 to $21.75 per hour. This is a paid role.
