Job description

Job Overview

We are seeking a dedicated, empathetic, and adaptable Healthcare Assistant to join our Farnborough Community Nursing Team. This position demands strong communication skills in English, both spoken and written. Applicants must currently reside in the UK and have recent experience as a Healthcare Assistant within UK healthcare settings.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver high-quality patient care in community settings, reporting significant health changes to senior team members.
  • Collaborate effectively as a team member and support team objectives.
  • Respond satisfactorily to patients’ needs, ensuring ease of access and respect for patient autonomy.
  • Operate within the individual's competency framework relative to their role.
  • Perform clinical tasks delegated by senior staff, including wound and pressure ulcer care, equipment management, leg ulcer treatment, catheter care, and ongoing patient support.
  • Provide guidance and health education to patients and carers on managing care between visits.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Essential: GCSE Maths and English (or equivalent), NVQ Level 3, and Care Certificate.
  • Desirable: Previous care or HCA role experience, knowledge of wound and catheter care, venepuncture, and NHS ward-based or community experience.
  • Proven ability to work independently and safely with minimal supervision.
  • Valid driving license and access to a vehicle for patient home visits; mileage expenses reimbursed.
  • Competence in moving and handling safely.

Additional Information

  • The role includes patient home visits with travel required; mileage is reimbursed through the Trust’s expense system.
  • Applicants lacking the Care Certificate must complete a mandated self-assessment prior to interview to comply with recruitment stages.
  • The position supports Apprenticeship opportunities (level 3) to enable national qualifications alongside working, though prior relevant qualifications may exempt candidates.
