It delivers acute hospital, primary care, community and mental health services to more than 1.15 million people locally, and to around 2.2 million when regional and national services are included.
The Opportunity
An opening is available for a caring and motivated person to join a newly established Mental Health Support team as a Healthcare Support Worker (Band 3). The post is intended to help patients progress in their recovery through practical, person-centred interventions that encourage engagement, wellbeing and rehabilitation.
You will support people experiencing a range of mental health difficulties and help maintain a safe, respectful and recovery-oriented setting where patients are encouraged to take part in interventions included in their care and treatment plan.

- Assist the nursing team by carrying out and reporting elements of the agreed care plan to the named nurse or nurse in charge.

- Recognise and respond to patients’ health promotion needs, with attention to mental wellbeing.
- Recognise and respond to patients’ physical health promotion needs.
- Identify and respond appropriately to issues linked to vulnerability, gender health, domestic abuse, child protection and self-harm.
- Build effective professional relationships with patients and carers, ensuring care needs are identified and met in a collaborative way that respects equality, dignity, spiritual beliefs and cultural diversity, while working closely with the wider MDT to support communication.
Benefits and Support
The organisation offers a range of supportive policies and employee benefits, including an Employee Assistance Programme, Cycle to Work Scheme, bursary support and extensive learning and development opportunities.
