Role overview
Senior Helpers is looking to quickly add Health Care Assistants who want to build a meaningful career supporting older adults in Lake Country, British Columbia. This opportunity is suitable for both newly graduated candidates and professionals with prior experience in assisted living, independent living, senior living, nursing homes, home care, or broader healthcare settings.
In this role, you will provide hands-on in-home care that helps seniors maintain the highest possible quality of life. The position is centered on personalized support, and your background will be matched to the needs of the seniors you assist.
Key responsibilities
- Help clients with day-to-day personal care tasks such as bathing, grooming, and dressing.
- Support instrumental daily tasks, including light housekeeping and meal preparation.
- Observe clients for any changes in condition and communicate updates to the healthcare team.
- Assist with mobility needs and transfer patients safely.
- Provide support with eating and drinking while following dietary instructions.
- Carry out medication reminders and assist with medication administration under supervision.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe care environment.
- Offer emotional reassurance and companionship to clients and their families.
Qualifications and communication needs
- A caring, compassionate, and empathetic approach is important for this role.
- Strong communication and interpersonal abilities are expected.
- You should be able to speak and write in English; additional languages are considered an advantage.
Requirements
- Active registration with the BC Care Aide & Community Health Worker Registry.
- Completion of a recognized Health Care Assistant training program.
- Prior experience as a Health Care Assistant in a healthcare environment is preferred.
- A negative TB test completed within the last 90 days.
- A negative Criminal Record Check and Vulnerable Sector Check issued within the last 90 days.
- CPR and First Aid certification is preferred.
- Reliable transportation and the ability to work different shifts, including evenings and weekends.

The typical schedule may include day shifts, evening shifts, Monday to Friday, night shifts, weekends as needed, and weekends only.
