About the Role
DHL Express is committed to connecting people and enhancing lives, with safety being fundamental to all activities. We are seeking a seasoned Health and Safety Manager to foster a robust safety culture and maintain a secure and compliant work environment across our operations in New Zealand.
Primary Responsibilities
- Contribute to and drive the execution of DHL’s Health & Safety strategy that aligns with company objectives and international standards.
- Develop and manage health and safety operational plans, projects, and associated budgets.
- Lead initiatives aimed at boosting safety performance throughout the organisation.
- Ensure full compliance with New Zealand’s health and safety legislation and DHL internal policies.
- Identify workplace hazards and implement effective risk assessments and mitigation measures.
- Conduct incident investigations, audits, and enforce corrective actions.
- Maintain safety frameworks, standards, and necessary tools.
- Oversee emergency preparedness including response and evacuation plans.
- Perform frequent inspections at operational and administrative sites.
- Deliver safety training, coaching, and awareness programmes to employees.
- Cultivate a proactive culture focused on safety and ongoing improvement.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders and external partners to enhance safety outcomes.
Candidate Profile
- A confident leader passionate about workplace safety with extensive operational expertise.
- Bachelor’s degree in Health & Safety or a related field.
- At least 6 years of relevant experience, preferably in logistics, transportation, or operations sectors.
- Comprehensive understanding of New Zealand health and safety laws and regulations.
- Strong track record in conducting audits, investigations, and managing safety systems.
- Exceptional stakeholder management and influencing abilities.
- Advanced analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Experience in team leadership and development.
- Strong skills in communication, facilitation, and delivering training sessions.
