Health and Safety Manager - New Zealand

Primary Responsibilities

• Contribute to and drive the execution of DHL’s Health & Safety strategy that aligns with company objectives and international standards.
• Develop and manage health and safety operational plans, projects, and associated budgets.
• Lead initiatives aimed at boosting safety performance throughout the organisation.
• Ensure full compliance with New Zealand’s health and safety legislation and DHL internal policies.
• Identify workplace hazards and implement effective risk assessments and mitigation measures.
• Conduct incident investigations, audits, and enforce corrective actions.
• Maintain safety frameworks, standards, and necessary tools.
• Oversee emergency preparedness including response and evacuation plans.
• Perform frequent inspections at operational and administrative sites.
• Deliver safety training, coaching, and awareness programmes to employees.
• Cultivate a proactive culture focused on safety and ongoing improvement.
• Collaborate with internal stakeholders and external partners to enhance safety outcomes.

Candidate Profile

• A confident leader passionate about workplace safety with extensive operational expertise.
• Bachelor’s degree in Health & Safety or a related field.
• At least 6 years of relevant experience, preferably in logistics, transportation, or operations sectors.
• Comprehensive understanding of New Zealand health and safety laws and regulations.
• Strong track record in conducting audits, investigations, and managing safety systems.
• Exceptional stakeholder management and influencing abilities.
• Advanced analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Experience in team leadership and development.
• Strong skills in communication, facilitation, and delivering training sessions.
