Job description

Role Overview

We are seeking an experienced Health and Safety Manager to lead all occupational health and safety initiatives within our warehouse and factory environments. This role demands ensuring adherence to company protocols, legal regulations, and industry best practices to maintain a secure workplace.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supervise and direct occupational health and safety programs across all operational areas including warehouses and factories.
  • Design, roll out, and continuously enhance safety management systems, procedures, and controls to foster a hazard-free environment.
  • Oversee regular safety inspections, audits, and risk assessments, ensuring prompt identification and mitigation of potential risks.
  • Implement corrective and preventive actions following inspections, incident investigations, and compliance reviews to reduce accidents and injuries.
  • Develop and conduct thorough safety training sessions, emergency drills, and awareness programs to improve employee safety awareness and preparedness.
  • Lead thorough investigations into accidents, near misses, incidents, and occupational health issues to uncover root causes and apply effective remedies.
  • Ensure complete compliance with national occupational health and safety legislation, environmental laws, and internal safety policies.
  • Engage with regulatory bodies, government agencies, auditors, and other relevant external stakeholders on health and safety concerns.
  • Monitor safety performance metrics, analyze trends, and furnish strategic advice to management for continuous safety improvements.
  • Compile and present detailed safety reports daily, weekly, monthly, and annually, maintaining accurate documentation for audits and compliance purposes.
  • Manage emergency response strategies, fire safety systems, evacuation plans, and business continuity preparedness.
  • Lead and coach the safety team to ensure effective implementation of safety initiatives and meet departmental objectives.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with Production, Warehouse, Engineering, Quality, and Human Resources teams to embed safety considerations into organizational processes and decisions.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Management, Engineering, Industrial Safety, or a related discipline.
  • At least eight years of pertinent health and safety experience, including a minimum of four years in a supervisory or managerial role; preference for candidates with manufacturing or factory setting experience.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of local occupational safety laws, environmental requirements, and industry standards.
  • Proven expertise in developing safety systems, conducting risk evaluations, and leading incident investigations.
  • Strong leadership capabilities, effective people management skills, and ability to engage diverse stakeholders.
  • Excellent analytical thinking, problem-solving aptitude, communication proficiency, and organizational skills.
  • Skilled in safety reporting, data analysis, and maintaining compliance documentation.
  • Demonstrates high integrity, meticulous attention to detail, and dedication to fostering a positive safety culture.
