Role Overview
The Head of Studio will lead the internal content production function and shape the next stage of studio capability. This role sits within the Marketing team and is responsible for delivering high-volume ecommerce, social, campaign and brand content for JD Sports ANZ.
Reporting to the APAC Marketing Director, you will provide both strategic direction and day-to-day operational leadership for the studio. You will oversee a team covering photography, videography, styling and studio coordination, while working closely with Marketing, Digital, Creative and Brand teams to keep production running smoothly and deliver work that is on time, on brief and commercially effective.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead, coach and develop a multi-discipline studio team.
- Create a positive, collaborative and high-performing team environment.
- Build team capability, support succession planning and encourage career growth.
- Own delivery of still and motion assets for ecommerce, social and campaign channels.
- Maintain strong visual standards that reflect global brand direction while staying relevant locally.
- Encourage new ideas in product imagery, social content and brand storytelling.
- Improve studio processes to increase efficiency and output.
- Manage studio rosters, capacity planning and workload prioritisation.
- Oversee production planning from briefing through to final delivery.
- Serve as the main link between the studio, marketing and digital functions.
- Convert campaign briefs into practical production plans.
- Ensure outputs are delivered on schedule, aligned to brief and within service expectations.
- Manage studio equipment, maintenance and day-to-day operational readiness.
- Lead studio upgrades, expansion initiatives and investment planning.
- Support budgeting, freelancer planning and cost control.
- Drive a commercially focused approach to studio operations.
- Improve efficiency, scalability and overall content quality.
- Help support the growth of the JD Sports ANZ business through strong production performance.
Experience and Requirements
- At least 5 years of experience in studio operations, production management or resource planning.
- Proven ability to lead high-performing content, creative or production teams.
- Experience handling large production schedules and shifting priorities.
- Strong stakeholder management skills across marketing, digital and creative teams.
- Previous responsibility for managing budgets and reducing costs.
- Track record of improving workflows and scaling production operations.
- Strong leadership and people development ability.
- Commercially minded with a solid operational approach.
- Highly organised with strong planning and prioritisation skills.
- Able to balance speed, quality and resource use in a fast-moving environment.
- Calm under pressure and proactive in solving problems.
- Interest in sport, fashion, youth culture and content creation is an advantage.
