Overview

Etqan Global Academy (EGA) in Doha, Qatar, a recently established IB World School offering the Middle Years Programme (MYP), is seeking a Head of Secondary. The successful candidate will provide inspirational leadership for the secondary division, fostering academic excellence and building a high-achieving team grounded in a culture of aspiration and international-mindedness.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic leadership aligned with IB MYP principles and EGA's strategic objectives.
  • Promote and ensure the delivery of high-quality, concept-based, inquiry-driven teaching and learning experiences within the secondary school.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop secondary teaching staff through coaching, performance appraisals, and professional development.
  • Drive whole-school progress by implementing robust monitoring, evaluation, data analysis, and self-review processes.
  • Foster strong, positive connections with students, parents, and the extended school community.
  • Collaborate effectively with the Principal, MYP Coordinator, and Senior Leadership Team to execute the School Improvement Plan.
  • Ensure outstanding student welfare, pastoral care, and emotional well-being throughout the secondary phases.
  • Manage timetabling, curriculum design, and academic reporting within the secondary section.
  • Advocate for student empowerment, the IB learner profile attributes, and international-mindedness across all year groups.

Candidate Profile

  • Holds a recognized teaching certification (e.g., PGCE, QTS) and a relevant academic degree.
  • Demonstrates substantial senior leadership in an IB school setting, with comprehensive knowledge of the MYP framework.
  • Has a proven history of driving school improvement and enhancing student achievements.
  • Experienced in leading, inspiring, and nurturing high-performing educational teams.
  • Possesses strong skills in data analysis to leverage assessment insights for school advancement.
  • Exhibits excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Committed strongly to safeguarding and advancing the welfare of all students.
  • International school experience, particularly in the Middle East, is advantageous.
