Overview

We are seeking a seasoned Head of Sales to spearhead the strategic initiatives and commercial success of the Gardencare division throughout the Island of Ireland. Reporting directly to the CEO and contributing as part of the Senior Management Team, the selected individual will be pivotal in steering the company’s growth trajectory and ensuring sustainable profit and revenue enhancement.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Craft and execute the strategic growth plan for the Gardencare division across the Island of Ireland.
  • Drive revenue increase, profitability, and enhance market share in alignment with corporate goals.
  • Serve on the senior leadership team, contributing to overarching business strategy.
  • Manage full profit and loss accountability for the Gardencare segment.
  • Formulate and achieve yearly sales, revenue, and margin forecasts.
  • Discover and exploit fresh customer bases, sales avenues, and opportunities for market growth.
  • Lead and mentor a team of eight Area Managers, establishing clear guidance, structure, and performance targets.
  • Foster a results-oriented, high-achievement culture within the sales team.
  • Establish and sustain strong commercial partnerships with key stakeholders and clients.
  • Drive negotiations and maintain critical trading relationships.
  • Stay informed on market trends, consumer dynamics, and competitor activities.
  • Collaborate closely with the Marketing Manager on the Gardencare product marketing plan.
  • Partner with the Technical Director and cross-functional teams to pinpoint and develop new product opportunities.
  • Contribute actively to product innovation pipelines and new product development drives.
  • Leverage data and metrics to inform decisions and manage performance effectively.
  • Prepare and deliver persuasive presentations to both internal teams and external customers.
  • Ensure rigorous organizational discipline in all aspects of planning, reporting, and execution.

Candidate Profile

  • At least five years in senior commercial leadership roles.
  • Background in Horticulture, Garden Centre retail, DIY retail, or FMCG sectors is highly valued.
  • Demonstrated success in growing revenues and expanding market presence.
  • Proven capability in building and scaling businesses within dynamic or evolving markets.
  • Strong commercial acumen and strategic outlook.
  • Exceptional negotiation and relationship management skills.
  • Data-driven and analytical approach to decision-making.
  • Effective leadership and talent development skills.
  • Excellent communicator and presenter.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.
  • Degree in Business, Commerce, or a related field is required.

Compensation and Benefits

The role offers a highly competitive salary reflecting its strategic significance.
