Team and Role Overview
The Canadian Commercial Sales team is tasked with increasing revenue, expanding market share, and nurturing strategic retail partnerships across Canada. This team crafts and executes tailored strategies for key customers, driving presence both in physical stores and online platforms. Collaborating cross-functionally with marketing, finance, and supply chain ensures superior execution. Rooted in consumer insights and category trends, the team formulates commercial plans that enable sustainable growth for Mattel's portfolio.
The Head of Sales for Canada, reporting to the VP and Country Manager, will lead this sales division, managing major national accounts such as Walmart, Costco, and Amazon. This leadership role includes directing sales strategies, fostering high-value customer relationships, guiding joint business plans, and achieving revenue and profit objectives.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement both short-term and long-term sales strategies targeting significant Canadian retailers like Walmart, Costco, and Amazon to enhance revenue and market share.
- Establish and deepen executive-level connections with customers to position Mattel as a reliable and strategic business partner.
- Direct joint business planning, forecasting, and promotional initiatives to meet financial goals and category benchmarks.
- Utilize data analytics, shopper insights, and category trends to identify and maximize new revenue streams.
- Oversee effective omni-channel retail execution, ensuring robust in-store visibility and strong online sales performance.
- Lead and mentor a high-achieving sales team, promoting accountability, collaboration, and goal attainment.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with marketing, finance, and supply chain teams to secure alignment and successful execution of business strategies.
- Advocate a customer- and shopper-centric culture throughout the sales organization.
Qualifications and Experience
- Eight to ten years of progressive experience in sales, including leadership roles overseeing major national retail accounts, preferably Walmart.
- Documented success in driving revenue growth through strategic sales planning and strong execution capabilities.
- Robust financial knowledge encompassing forecasting, joint business planning, and profit and loss management.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to convert insights into actionable business strategies.
- In-depth understanding of omnichannel retail environments, shopper behaviors, and category management principles.
- Exceptional ability to build and influence relationships with senior-level stakeholders.
- Proven expertise in leading and developing dynamic, high-performing sales teams.
- Skillful at prioritizing and executing tasks effectively in fast-paced settings.
- A bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, or a related discipline is required; an MBA is advantageous.
