Overview

As the Head of Procurement for the GSA region, you will lead procurement functions spanning both Cost of Goods Sold (COGS) and indirect expenditures. Your role will involve spearheading procurement transformation initiatives focused on strategic partnerships and innovative supplier solutions. You will serve as the local face of procurement, driving operational excellence, compliance, digital innovation, and cultivating strong collaborations with country leadership and key stakeholders in Frankfurt am Main, Germany.

Key Responsibilities

• Act as the primary contact for stakeholders including country leadership, chairpersons, councils, finance business partners, and commercial leads.
• Contribute feedback on global procurement strategies and tailor their application at the regional MCO (Market Country Organization) level to fit local needs.
• Maintain routine country and MCO reviews, integrating procurement planning within budget cycles.
• Enhance efficiency across end-to-end procurement and Source-to-Pay processes using a comprehensive approach incorporating AI technologies.
• Support COGS sites and local business ventures with a unified Sanofi perspective.
• Drive commercial value by assisting category management teams and supporting global cost-saving initiatives.
• Develop and reinforce supplier relationships; validate supplier segmentation and participate in local Supplier Relationship Management programs.
• Scout and recommend innovative local suppliers for potential group-wide application, aligning with domain teams.
• Explore new technologies and their uses within the local vendor ecosystem.
• Ensure strict adherence to global procurement policies and oversee their execution to completion.
• Identify and address risks related to compliance, CSR, and procurement excellence in partnership with transformation teams.
• Understand and incorporate local policies into procurement strategies; support local internal and SEC audits.
• Maintain a comprehensive Business Continuity Plan for procurement at the MCO level.
• Lead change management and behavioral transformation within the procurement function.
• Champion the rollout of the Procurement Digital roadmap and benchmark against industry best practices.
• Collaborate cross-functionally to identify improvement opportunities and implement new tools and processes.
• Advance sustainability initiatives contributing to improved scores on indices such as the Dow Jones Sustainability Index (DJSI).
• Build and sustain peer relationships across MCO leadership and councils, ensuring procurement representation in decision-making forums.
• Create and manage a centralized knowledge hub as the procurement point of contact for the region, promoting data integrity and transparency.
• Execute internal communication strategies and contribute to global procurement programs.
• Cultivate a unifying culture and mindset within the team, proactively escalating any business risks.
• Drive talent management, including setting objectives, succession planning, performance calibration, mentorship, and recognition.
• Encourage cross-functional talent growth and support organizational design tailored to strengthen procurement.

Candidate Profile

• Minimum 10 years of relevant experience in procurement or related functions.
• Strong leadership skills demonstrated in strategic transformation and change adoption at executive and country levels.
• Proven capacity to influence within complex matrix environments aligning global, regional, and local objectives.
• Deep expertise in procurement best practices and familiarity with GSA market operations, particularly matrix or hub-led structures.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to influence diverse internal and external stakeholders confidently.
• Analytical mindset and demonstrated success managing and sustaining change initiatives.
• Independent, resilient, with high ethical standards and readiness to challenge existing norms.
• Master’s degree from a recognized institution, such as an MBA or equivalent, with backgrounds in procurement, sales, finance, or business.
• Fluent proficiency in German and English, both written and spoken.
