Job description
Role Overview
We are seeking a Purchasing Officer responsible for overseeing the complete procurement cycle, which encompasses sourcing suppliers, managing vendor relationships, handling contract administration, and executing purchase orders. This role requires close coordination with teams in Operations, Maintenance, Engineering, and Finance to ensure procurement activities adhere to organizational policies while securing optimal value, quality, and timely delivery.
Key Duties
- Efficiently process purchase requisitions and generate purchase orders accurately and promptly.
- Develop and issue Requests for Quotation (RFQ) for auxiliary raw materials and packaging, negotiating terms with suppliers.
- Manage procurement activities related to auxiliary raw materials and packaging essential for production, including order placement, tracking, and invoice verification procedures.
- Identify and assess potential new suppliers, including coordinating evaluation samples for qualification purposes.
- Track purchase order progress and expedite delivery to maintain continuous production flow.
- Oversee supplier performance and sustain robust partnerships with key vendors and service providers.
- Collaborate with internal departments such as Operations, Maintenance, and Engineering to understand procurement needs and scheduling requirements.
- Independently resolve issues related to procurement, including delays, quality discrepancies, and invoice conflicts.
- Maintain accurate records of procurement transactions, contracts, and supplier information following company protocols.
Qualifications and Experience
- Degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Engineering, or a relevant field.
- At least 5 years of procurement or purchasing experience, ideally within manufacturing, petrochemical, chemical, or industrial sectors.
- Demonstrated expertise in sourcing, managing suppliers, contract handling, and commercial negotiation.
- Experience with SAP or other ERP systems used in procurement.
- Strong analytical, negotiation, and problem-solving abilities.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Office tools.
- Capable of working independently, managing multiple priorities, and meeting tight deadlines.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Proactive team member with strong integrity, keen attention to detail, and customer-oriented approach.
