About the Role
This senior leadership role is offered through a partner company, seeking a Head of Operations based in Spain to lead a global, fully remote financial services enterprise. The position demands an operational leader who can establish and expand the organization's operational capabilities, ensuring seamless, resilient, compliant, and high-quality services across multiple disciplines including payments, reconciliations, and digital asset settlements.
Key Responsibilities
- Formulate and implement an all-encompassing operations strategy focused on scalability, efficiency, quality assurance, and regulatory compliance aligned with overarching business goals.
- Manage critical operational units spanning payments, treasury, reconciliations, card operations, business processes, and back-office functions.
- Own operational performance by setting definitive metrics, instituting controls, and initiating improvements to uphold superior service delivery standards.
- Drive initiatives in process innovation, automation, and transformation leveraging structured frameworks, advanced technologies, data analytics, and artificial intelligence tools.
- Design and enforce standardized protocols to enhance operational consistency, efficiency, and transparency.
- Build and nurture a high-achieving operations team by emphasizing accountability, teamwork, and continuous advancement.
- Collaborate closely with compliance, risk management, and financial crime prevention teams to maintain adherence to legal and internal policy requirements.
- Implement operational risk management frameworks encompassing monitoring, reporting, control mechanisms, and audit preparedness.
- Coordinate cross-functionally with leaders in technology, data, HR, and client service to ensure strategic cohesion.
- Supervise end-to-end digital asset settlement activities including wallet oversight, custody controls, crypto-fiat transaction handling, and reconciliation processes.
Qualifications and Experience
- A minimum of 10 years progressive leadership experience in operations within regulated sectors like banking, fintech, wealth management, or financial services.
- Proven expertise in managing and expanding diverse operational areas such as payments, treasury, settlements, and business operations.
- Strong capability in process enhancement, operational transformation, automation, and the development of scalable workflows.
- Deep knowledge of financial regulatory frameworks, compliance mandates, anti-money laundering (AML), and financial crime mitigation practices.
- Demonstrated success in leading multi-disciplinary teams and cultivating high-performance operational cultures.
- Excellent leadership, communication, stakeholder engagement, and problem-solving aptitudes.
- Strategic orientation to translate business objectives into executable operational initiatives.
- Experience with cryptocurrency, blockchain, or digital asset operations is highly advantageous.
- Adept at operating independently within a fully remote, international environment, possessing strong collaborative skills.
