Role Overview

We are hiring a Head of Finance based in London, UK, with a hybrid work model requiring in-person presence four days per week. This senior leadership role entails building and managing the finance function as a player-coach initially, evolving into a full leadership role as the company expands. The Head of Finance will report directly to the CEO, collaborating closely with founders and serving as a key strategic partner in all commercial and financing decisions.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop, maintain, and own the company's operating financial model, including ARR, headcount, costs, cash flow, and runway metrics used by the board and management.
• Prepare comprehensive board packs, investor updates, and KPI dashboards, ensuring accuracy and defensibility of all financial information presented to investors.
• Establish and manage FP&A processes such as monthly close, variance analysis, rolling forecasts, and scenario planning to support informed company planning and risk mitigation.
• Lead Series B financing readiness by preparing financial diligence materials, building the data room, and assisting the CEO throughout the fundraising process with bulletproof financial narratives.
• Provide strategic commercial partnership by analyzing unit economics, pricing strategies, and deal structuring alongside the CEO and Head of Sales.
• Oversee financial controls and compliance, including managing outsourced accounting, audit, tax, and payroll services for UK and US entities, ensuring clean SaaS revenue recognition standards.
• Manage R&D tax credit and grant claims in the UK and US to maximize cash benefits annually.
• Administer cap table and equity matters, including option grants, 409A and EMI valuations, and board consents, ensuring clarity and accuracy from day one.
• Handle treasury and cash management responsibilities, such as cash placement strategies, GBP/USD foreign exchange, banking relationships, and preparation for venture debt financing ahead of Series B.
• Recruit, manage, and develop a small finance team (1–2 members within 12 months) while setting up finance tools, close calendars, and effective cross-functional collaboration models.

Desired Qualifications and Experience

• Minimum of 8 years in finance leadership roles such as Head of Finance, FP&A, or Controller within high-growth B2B SaaS or fintech startups.
• Professional accounting qualification (ACA, ACCA, CIMA, or equivalent US certification) with experience in Big Four accounting firms or top-tier startups.
• Proven operational experience owning financial models and board reporting, including participation in investor meetings and live Q&A.
• Experience supporting Series B or later fundraising rounds, including financial diligence, data room preparation, and investor engagement.
• Capable of managing UK and US multi-entity, multi-currency financial operations and associated compliance complexities.
• Academic background with at least a 2:1 bachelor's degree from a reputable university.
