Head of Finance

Role overview

KIMS Hospital is hiring a Head of Finance to be based in Maidstone, Kent, working on site in a full-time permanent position. This senior leadership role sits within the Senior Management Team and is designed for an accomplished finance professional who combines commercial insight with strong people leadership. The role will work closely with the Finance Director to strengthen financial performance, support organisational growth, and help shape decision-making across the wider healthcare group.

In this position, finance is not only about reporting numbers. The successful candidate will act as a strategic partner to the business, building strong relationships, advising senior stakeholders, and turning financial analysis into practical action that supports long-term success.

What you will do

• Oversee the everyday running of the Finance function while also contributing to the organisation’s strategic direction.
• Lead the Financial Accounts, Commercial Finance, Business Finance, and Clinical Coding teams, ensuring they work effectively together.
• Work in partnership with the Finance Director, Hospital Director, and Senior Leadership Team to improve financial results and deliver business goals.
• Prepare accurate and timely management accounts, forecasts, reports, and business insights for senior leaders.
• Use financial analysis to guide commercial decisions and support stronger business outcomes.
• Assist with budgeting, forecasting, cash flow oversight, and wider financial planning activity.
• Spot opportunities to improve processes, efficiency, and overall financial performance.
• Manage statutory compliance obligations and take the lead on the annual external audit.
• Support growth across multiple LycaHealth sites by contributing shared finance services.
• Coach and influence managers across the organisation so they better understand financial priorities and accountability.
• Step in for the Finance Director when needed.

What we are looking for

The ideal candidate will be a seasoned finance leader with solid technical knowledge, strong commercial judgement, and the confidence to influence senior decision-makers. This person should also be comfortable leading teams, explaining financial matters clearly to non-finance colleagues, and driving continuous improvement.

• A recognised accounting qualification such as ACA, ACCA, CIMA, or an equivalent credential.
• Extensive experience in a senior finance leadership role.
• A strong commercial outlook and the ability to influence senior stakeholders.
• Proven experience leading and developing high-performing finance teams.
• Advanced analytical, forecasting, and financial modelling capability.
• Excellent Microsoft Excel skills, along with confidence using the broader Microsoft Office suite.
• Strong communication skills with the ability to present financial information in an accessible way.
• A proactive, solution-oriented mindset and a commitment to ongoing improvement.
• Healthcare finance experience, preferably within the independent sector, would be an advantage.
• Knowledge of medical terminology would also be beneficial.
