Job description

Role overview

This opportunity is for a finance leader based in Germany and is being handled on behalf of a partner employer, which will oversee the application review and next stages of the hiring process. The position is a senior, high-impact leadership role within a fast-growing consumer-oriented digital business. As the first internal finance leader, you will be expected to create the structure, discipline, and strategic clarity needed across the company’s financial operations.

In this role, you will go beyond reporting and compliance to build finance into a strategic function that actively supports executive decisions. You will work closely with senior leadership to guide choices related to expansion, profitability, and capital allocation. The job combines hands-on financial ownership with forward-looking planning, and it offers the chance to design finance processes and systems from the ground up in a remote-first environment.

Your work will directly contribute to sustainable scaling by improving financial transparency, strengthening control, and helping the business make better decisions at every stage of growth.

Key responsibilities

  • Take ownership of financial forecasting, modeling, and long-range planning, including growth assumptions, scenario planning, headcount planning, and cash flow oversight.
  • Run the budgeting process and give leadership clear insight into trade-offs, key risks, and the factors driving performance.
  • Prepare investor-ready models, reporting packs, and board-level materials to support fundraising and strategic conversations.
  • Manage inventory accounting, cost monitoring, and reconciliation work across revenue, spending, cash movement, and cost of goods sold.
  • Improve visibility into profitability, margin performance, and unit economics while ensuring reports are accurate and delivered on time.
  • Put in place strong financial controls, audit-ready processes, and dependable month-end close routines that align with accounting standards.
  • Work with leaders across the business to align budgets, track spending, and strengthen financial decision-making.
  • Create backup planning frameworks such as Plan B and Plan C to help the business stay resilient through changing conditions.
  • Act as the central source of financial truth by consolidating, standardizing, and improving financial data and reporting systems.

What you bring

  • At least 5–10+ years of experience in finance, FP&A, accounting, or operational finance, ideally in high-growth or startup settings.
  • Strong capability in financial modeling, forecasting, budgeting, and strategic planning.
  • Hands-on experience handling finance operations in inventory-heavy or product-led businesses.
  • Advanced skills in Excel or Google Sheets, along with exposure to ERP or accounting platforms such as NetSuite, QuickBooks, or Sage.
  • A solid accounting background; CPA or an equivalent certification is preferred.
  • The ability to combine strategic guidance with direct execution.
  • A systems-oriented mindset and a focus on improving processes, not only outputs.
  • Strong communication skills, including the confidence to question assumptions and influence senior stakeholders constructively.
  • Experience in e-commerce, collectibles, or similar inventory-driven industries is considered an advantage.

What is offered

  • A fully remote, full-time leadership position with a high degree of autonomy.
  • The chance to build and shape the finance function from the beginning.
  • Direct exposure to executive leadership and strategic decision-making.
  • A meaningful role with clear impact on growth, profitability, and long-term financial strength.
  • The opportunity to work in a fast-scaling, innovative consumer digital environment.
  • A competitive compensation package suited to a senior leadership role.
  • The ability to introduce systems, tools, and processes that support long-term scale.
