About the Role
Etqan Global Academy (EGA), a newly established IB World School in Doha, Qatar, under Nord Anglia Education, is seeking a dedicated Head of Early Years. The successful candidate will lead the entire Early Years provision, fostering a joyful, secure, and stimulating environment that encourages young learners to explore, discover, and develop within the IB PYP Early Years framework.
Key Responsibilities
- Direct and oversee all aspects of the Early Years program, exemplifying best practices and upholding the highest quality standards.
- Ensure effective application of the IB PYP Early Years framework throughout the unit.
- Create and nurture a play-based, child-initiated learning atmosphere that promotes curiosity, independence, and a lifelong enthusiasm for learning.
- Lead and mentor the Early Years teaching team through coaching, observations, and professional development activities.
- Establish robust, trusting relationships with parents and families by facilitating regular communication and engagement events.
- Manage assessment, observations, and reporting procedures for Early Years students, including maintaining learning portfolios.
- Continuously monitor and evaluate the quality of Early Years provision and promote ongoing improvements.
- Ensure compliance with safeguarding, health, safety, and child protection standards at all times.
- Collaborate with the PYP Coordinator and Senior Leadership Team to maintain consistent curriculum coherence and support school-wide improvement efforts.
Candidate Profile
- Possess a recognized qualification in Early Years or primary education.
- Have substantial experience in an Early Years leadership capacity, preferably within an IB or international school setting.
- Demonstrate strong expertise in the IB PYP Early Years framework and inquiry-driven, play-based teaching methods.
- Have an in-depth understanding of child development and child-led learning approaches.
- Exhibit excellent communication skills and an ability to foster meaningful partnerships with families.
- Experience in leading, inspiring, and developing Early Years teams.
- Be passionately committed to safeguarding, child welfare, and inclusive educational practices.
- International school experience is advantageous.
