Job Overview
The Head of Information Technology leads the overall management, governance, and security of the IT landscape within the organization. This position is responsible for crafting and executing the IT strategy, with particular emphasis on cybersecurity, managing technology risks, ensuring infrastructure robustness, maintaining business continuity, and complying with regulatory standards.
Responsibilities
- Formulate and implement the IT strategy, policies, and technology roadmap in alignment with the organization's objectives.
- Set up and maintain governance, standards, and controls for infrastructure, systems, data handling, and technology projects.
- Advise senior management on technology risks, investment decisions, and opportunities for digital transformation.
- Manage the IT budget ensuring appropriate allocation of resources towards priorities.
- Lead cybersecurity strategy and manage technology risk frameworks.
- Implement controls for access management, information security, cloud infrastructure, network, endpoints, and business applications.
- Oversee cybersecurity risk assessments, vulnerability analyses, and ensure timely remediation of critical issues.
- Direct response efforts to major cybersecurity incidents, ensuring proper escalation, recovery, and reporting.
- Establish and test IT disaster recovery, backup, business continuity, and cybersecurity incident response procedures.
- Ensure compliance with cybersecurity, data protection, audit, and technology governance standards.
- Monitor significant technology risks, incidents, and audit findings, reporting key matters to management.
- Review and govern major technology changes and initiatives for risk and security controls.
- Lead and develop the IT team with defined accountabilities across infrastructure and application domains.
- Set priorities and performance goals to deliver secure, stable, and effective IT services.
- Collaborate with departments to understand needs and facilitate adoption of suitable technology solutions.
- Lead or sponsor wide-reaching technology and cybersecurity projects impacting the organization.
- Keep management informed about important developments, emerging risks, and strategic technology considerations.
Requirements
- Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Cybersecurity, Information Systems, or related fields.
- Minimum 8 years of relevant IT experience, including at least 3 years in leadership or management roles.
- Extensive experience in cybersecurity governance, technology risk management, incident response, and business continuity planning.
- Proven track record of developing IT strategies, policies, governance frameworks, and leading significant technology initiatives.
- Certifications in cybersecurity or IT governance are preferred.
- Deep understanding of cybersecurity principles, security controls, and applicable regulations.
- Comprehensive knowledge of IT infrastructure, cloud computing, networks, enterprise applications, and data protection.
- Strong ability to evaluate technology risks and translate these into actionable business guidance.
- Excellent leadership capabilities, stakeholder engagement, and communication skills.
- Exhibits integrity, sound judgment, and discretion in decision-making.
- Strategic thinker with foresight while being mindful of operational constraints.
- Demonstrates ownership and remains composed and decisive during incidents.
