Job description

About the Company

WD develops the storage backbone that supports the AI data economy. As artificial intelligence expands, the volume of data created by models, systems, and user interactions grows with it. WD builds the infrastructure that keeps that data stored, organized, and accessible over the long term.

The company combines advanced engineering with large-scale manufacturing to deliver storage platforms used by hyperscale data centers, cloud providers, and enterprise environments worldwide. This is a hands-on role focused on solving complex real-world technology challenges at scale.

Role Overview

The Head of Content is a senior management position responsible for shaping WD’s corporate content direction, editorial planning, and content creation across marketing channels. The role calls for a strong storyteller who can work independently while also partnering closely with technical experts to turn WD’s innovation story into engaging content.

The ideal candidate brings sharp editorial judgment, excellent writing ability, and a strong understanding of enterprise technology and AI infrastructure. This person should be equally comfortable interviewing engineers, coordinating with executives, and developing content for both technical and business audiences.

What You'll Do

  • Lead WD’s corporate content strategy and editorial roadmap so it supports business goals, marketing initiatives, product launches, and market trends.
  • Set content KPIs, create reporting systems, and share performance insights and strategic recommendations with marketing leadership.
  • Spot gaps in the content function and recommend the tools, talent, and workflows needed to scale it effectively.
  • Plan, write, edit, and publish original content across blogs, the website, social channels, executive communications, customer stories, video scripts, presentations, and external thought leadership outlets.
  • Act as the primary writer for high-priority content initiatives, converting technical subjects into clear and compelling stories for enterprise, technology, and executive audiences.
  • Build and oversee WD’s YouTube and video content strategy, including scripted series, product explainers, executive interviews, and event-related content, while coordinating with creative and production partners.
  • Run WD’s shared editorial calendar and align priorities across Corporate Marketing, Product Marketing, Communications, Social Media, and other internal stakeholders.
  • Work with product marketing, engineering, research, and executive teams to gather insights, conduct interviews, and produce technically accurate content that reflects WD’s innovation leadership.
  • Manage external vendors, freelancers, and production partners, and help establish a content operating model that can scale as the team grows.
  • Develop content ideas around major industry topics such as AI infrastructure, cloud computing, data storage, digital transformation, and emerging technologies.
  • Drive content distribution and activation across owned channels in partnership with creative, social, web, and digital teams to increase reach and impact.
  • Support executive thought leadership through articles, speaking abstracts, presentations, keynote materials, and industry commentary.
  • Own content performance by defining KPIs, applying SEO best practices, and using analytics to improve reach, engagement, and discoverability.
  • Create and maintain editorial standards, style guidance, and content quality processes across corporate marketing output.
  • Manage the content budget, including tools, production expenses, and outside resources.

Requirements

  • At least 8 years of experience in content strategy, content marketing, journalism, corporate communications, or editorial work within the technology sector.
  • Strong writing, editing, interviewing, and storytelling skills, supported by a portfolio showing quality across multiple content formats and channels.
  • Demonstrated ability to create original content independently from initial concept through publication.
  • Ability to turn complex technical information into clear, engaging, audience-focused narratives.
  • Proven experience leading cross-functional content planning and aligning editorial priorities across multiple stakeholders.
  • Experience building and running B2B YouTube or video content strategies, including scripting, series development, and audience/channel growth.
  • Excellent project management and organizational skills, with the ability to handle multiple priorities in a fast-moving environment.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills, including direct work with technical subject matter experts and senior leaders.
  • Preferred background in enterprise technology, AI, cloud infrastructure, data storage, semiconductors, or related B2B technology fields.
  • Experience supporting executive thought leadership and company storytelling initiatives is preferred.
  • Working knowledge of SEO, content analytics, and performance optimization is preferred.
  • Experience producing multimedia content such as video scripts and presentation materials is preferred.
  • Awareness of emerging trends in AI, cloud, and data infrastructure markets is preferred.
