Role Overview
As a Hair Styling Specialist, you will design and create hairstyles that enhance the visual portrayal of artistes in Drama, Entertainment, News, and Current Affairs productions. Your collaboration with makeup artists, costume designers, and production teams ensures the overall appearance aligns with the creative vision, continuity standards, and production timelines.
Key Responsibilities
- Create hairstyles tailored to character profiles, scripts, and production needs.
- Work closely with production teams and artistes to fulfill hairstyling requirements across various genres including drama, variety shows, and news.
- Maintain hairstyle continuity across scenes by documenting detailed notes and photographic evidence.
- Trim hair as necessary to preserve the intended on-screen look throughout filming.
- Manage the care, styling, cataloguing, and storage of wigs, hairpieces, and extensions.
- Ensure artistes are prepared for filming, live events, and promotional activities within scheduled timeframes and budget limits.
- Keep abreast of the latest hair trends, styling methods, and tools to improve production quality.
- Provide assistance with basic makeup and touch-ups to maintain a unified on-screen appearance.
- Adhere strictly to hygiene, sanitation, and safety protocols concerning products, tools, and equipment.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by production management or head of department.
Required Qualifications
- Diploma or Professional Certificate in Hairdressing or Hairstyling from an accredited institution.
- Additional certification or diploma in Makeup is advantageous.
- Thorough understanding of hairstyling techniques suited for diverse hair types and on-screen presentation.
- Experience with wigs, hair extensions, and hairpieces used for performance or broadcast contexts.
- Minimum 3 to 5 years of professional experience in television, film, theatre, or related creative fields.
- Good knowledge of up-to-date hair and fashion trends.
