Job description
Role Overview
The Clinical Nurse Practice Specialist is responsible for delivering advanced clinical nursing expertise to drive improvement in nursing practice and patient care quality.
Key Responsibilities
- Assess nursing staff development requirements and support enhancements in care planning.
- Lead initiatives aimed at quality improvement, rigorously evaluate clinical practice outcomes, and promote the implementation of evidence-based, safe, and cost-effective nursing practices.
- Design, execute, and monitor educational programs that include competency development and transition-to-practice support for nursing personnel.
- Serve as a mentor and coach to clinical staff and educators, encouraging professional development and the application of evidence-based nursing approaches.
- Work collaboratively with organizational leadership and academic institutions, engage in research activities, and advocate for the progress of nursing practice standards.
Qualifications and Skills
- Must hold a Master’s Degree in Nursing; possession of a Doctorate is advantageous.
- At least five years of clinical experience in healthcare or academic environments is required.
- Demonstrated expertise in adult learning principles, along with strong communication, interpersonal, and presentation capabilities.
- Must have an active Registered Nurse (RN) license for Illinois, current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification, and either hold or will obtain a specialty certification within one year of starting the role.
- Strong collaboration and leadership skills, plus a commitment to continuous professional growth.
