Full-Time Clinical Nurse Practice Specialist

Role Overview

The Clinical Nurse Practice Specialist is responsible for delivering advanced clinical nursing expertise to drive improvement in nursing practice and patient care quality.

Key Responsibilities

• Assess nursing staff development requirements and support enhancements in care planning.
• Lead initiatives aimed at quality improvement, rigorously evaluate clinical practice outcomes, and promote the implementation of evidence-based, safe, and cost-effective nursing practices.
• Design, execute, and monitor educational programs that include competency development and transition-to-practice support for nursing personnel.
• Serve as a mentor and coach to clinical staff and educators, encouraging professional development and the application of evidence-based nursing approaches.
• Work collaboratively with organizational leadership and academic institutions, engage in research activities, and advocate for the progress of nursing practice standards.

Qualifications and Skills

• Must hold a Master’s Degree in Nursing; possession of a Doctorate is advantageous.
• At least five years of clinical experience in healthcare or academic environments is required.
• Demonstrated expertise in adult learning principles, along with strong communication, interpersonal, and presentation capabilities.
• Must have an active Registered Nurse (RN) license for Illinois, current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification, and either hold or will obtain a specialty certification within one year of starting the role.
• Strong collaboration and leadership skills, plus a commitment to continuous professional growth.
