The role combines styling, garment preparation, fitting coordination, alterations, inventory control, and on-set support to ensure artistes are dressed accurately and consistently with the creative brief.
Core Duties
- Oversee costume handling for productions, including styling, sourcing, selection, preparation, packing, and upkeep of wardrobe items.
- Assist with styling decisions so artistes’ appearances match the creative concept, character needs, and production theme.
- Run costume fittings and make adjustments to improve comfort, visual consistency, practicality, and continuity during filming or live shows.
- Work with artistes, creative personnel, production staff, and outside vendors on styling needs, costume specifications, and required changes.
- Carry out sewing work, fittings, alterations, repairs, and creative garment changes when production demands it.
- Keep wardrobe and accessory stock organised by labelling, cleaning, storing, tracking, and ensuring items are ready for use.
- Provide support for local and overseas location shoots, including wardrobe assistance on set and continuity checks.
- Take on additional tasks as directed by production leadership or the Head of Department.
Qualifications and Requirements
The preferred background includes GCE O Level or N Level, a certificate in dressmaking, or a fashion design-related qualification. Candidates should have a genuine interest in fashion, production work, and behind-the-scenes operations. Prior experience in media or a production setting is an advantage.
Strong practical skills in sewing, alterations, and finishing are important, along with a good eye for colour, styling, and creativity. The ability to style is considered a plus. Applicants should be able to manage multiple tasks in a busy environment, stay organised, and pay close attention to detail.
Good communication and teamwork skills are required, as well as the ability to work efficiently under time pressure and adapt quickly to last-minute changes. Reading and understanding Mandarin is necessary to support comprehension of Mandarin scripts. Basic computer skills are also needed.
