This role will partner closely with managers and employees as a dependable HR advisor, helping ensure company policies and practices are applied fairly and consistently. The job requires travel throughout Ireland.
About the company
MTM Engineering is a leading specialist electrical contractor delivering medium voltage and low voltage cable installation, termination services, busbar solutions, and containment works across a broad range of construction projects. Based in Ireland, the business delivers mission-critical projects for customers across Europe and beyond, serving sectors such as data centres, pharmaceuticals, renewables, power generation, and critical infrastructure.

- Support investigations and help ensure outcomes are fair and consistent.
- Contribute to a healthy workplace culture through communication and engagement initiatives.
- Assist with resolving workplace disputes and mediating between employees and managers when needed.

- Work with the Talent Acquisition Specialist to run the full recruitment process, from advertising and sourcing to screening, interviewing, and onboarding.
- Collaborate with hiring managers to identify workforce needs and shape effective hiring plans.
- Develop and maintain talent pools for key and hard-to-fill roles.
- Arrange interviews and support a strong candidate experience throughout the process.
- Use multiple sourcing methods, including job boards, social media, referrals, and recruitment agencies, to attract suitable candidates.
- Review hiring metrics such as time to hire, cost per hire, and quality of hire, then support process improvements.
HR operations and generalist support
- Assist with creating, rolling out, and communicating HR policies and procedures.
- Support HR operations, onboarding, and induction activities to help new hires settle in smoothly.
- Keep employee records and HR systems accurate and up to date.
- Contribute to employee engagement surveys and the resulting action plans.
- Support performance management activities, including reviews and development planning.
- Ensure work is aligned with employment legislation and internal policy requirements.
- Take on other related duties as needed.
Skills and experience
The role calls for someone with solid HR generalist experience and a strong background in employee relations. A good working knowledge of employment law, HR compliance, recruitment practices, and HR systems is essential. Strong communication, relationship-building, organisation, and multi-tasking skills are important, along with confidence using Microsoft Office. Experience with European employment law would be an advantage.
Qualifications
A bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business, or a related subject is required. A CIPD qualification, or progress toward one, is preferred.
Key competencies
The ideal candidate will be capable of solving problems, handling conflict, maintaining confidentiality, showing sound judgement, and adapting well to changing priorities. A collaborative, proactive, detail-focused, resilient, and professional approach is important.
