Role Overview

The Global Account Director for Payment Partnerships will take ownership of a critical commercial relationship within the payments sector, spearheading revenue expansion, fostering executive-level engagement, and ensuring the longevity and success of the partnership. This pivotal position demands a blend of strategic business leadership, payment industry knowledge, and teamwork across multiple functions to deliver significant business outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and be accountable for the commercial success and growth of a premier global payment partner, leveraging expansion initiatives, joint planning, and market execution to drive revenue growth.
  • Formulate and implement long-term strategies that unify commercial goals, product development paths, investment plans, and market potentials.
  • Develop trusted rapport at every level within partner organizations, serving as the foremost executive liaison and promoting sustained collaboration.
  • Conduct business reviews, strategic planning, contract negotiations, and conflict resolution in partnership with senior leadership.
  • Orchestrate cross-departmental teams including product, engineering, marketing, legal, finance, and operations to ensure the smooth delivery of partnership projects.
  • Identify and pursue opportunities for growth in new markets, merchant segments, payment features, and commercial approaches.
  • Track partnership KPIs, perform financial assessments, compile reports, and provide executive briefings to ensure accountability and continuous enhancement.
  • Stay well-informed on the global payments landscape to spot emerging trends, technological advancements, and competitive forces.
  • Convert payment feature needs into clear priorities and collaborate with technical teams on integration and product improvements.
  • Develop scalable processes and governance for efficient cooperation across international teams and partners.

Candidate Requirements

  • Minimum of 10 years in strategic partnerships, enterprise account management, business development, or leadership roles within the payments field.
  • A proven history of successfully managing and expanding major strategic partnerships with recurring revenue streams and aggressive growth targets.
  • Comprehensive understanding of global payment systems including merchant acquiring, payment service providers, interchange economics, payment networks, and bank transfers.
  • Strong commercial insight, with expertise in negotiating complex agreements, revenue-sharing, and long-term business plans.
  • Ability to clearly articulate technical payment concepts and collaborate effectively with engineering and product teams.
  • Experience in cultivating and influencing executive-level relationships internally and externally.
  • Exceptional analytical, financial modeling, and business case development skills to assess ROI and investment potential.
  • Leadership of cross-functional initiatives without direct management authority, spanning product, engineering, legal, finance, marketing, and operations.
  • Proven organizational, project management, negotiation, and stakeholder engagement abilities.
  • Comfortable operating within global teams across time zones and dynamic business environments.
  • Experience with managing multinational partnerships is strongly preferred.
