The ideal candidate will be a transformational builder, boasting proven experience in scaling complex, high-volume operational settings through process reengineering, automation adoption, technology integration, and team expansion, all while maintaining strict standards for quality, regulatory compliance, and customer satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop a resilient 24/7 operational model with effective systems, shift structures, and a culture that guarantees consistent performance without over-reliance on individuals.
  • Manage commercial metrics including cost efficiency per order, throughput optimization, shrinkage control, and contributing to business growth targets.
  • Recruit, inspire, and guide a workforce of over 150 employees while cultivating successive layers of operational leadership.
  • Ensure regulatory and compliance adherence relating to GPhC, CQC, controlled drug protocols, collaborating closely with pharmacy leadership.
  • Oversee the patient experience comprehensively, ensuring seamless interactions from initial contact to medication delivery, applying rigorous consumer-focused process standards.

Candidate Profile

  • Demonstrated success in scaling sizeable, high-volume operations from early stages to substantial scale, with detailed insights on challenges faced and solutions implemented.
  • Experience leading large teams (150+ members) in dynamic, shift-based work environments.
  • Proven personal initiative in making technology and automation decisions including system selections, workflow redesign, dispensing or pick-pack technology, and system integrations.
  • Practical knowledge of operating within regulated industries such as pharmacy, pharmaceutical supply chains, healthcare, or comparable areas requiring compliance under pressure.
  • An active, visible leadership approach that emphasizes presence on the operational floor and builds trust with frontline staff.
  • Strong commercial acumen with accountability for managing costs, monitoring key performance metrics, and decision-making reflective of ownership responsibility.

Preferred Qualifications (Not Mandatory)

  • Direct experience with pharmacy or online pharmacy operations.
  • Expertise in designing patient journeys or clinical care pathways.
  • Qualifying credentials or willingness to assume Superintendent Pharmacist duties.
  • A background with patient safety incident frameworks (NPS) in clinical settings.
  • Collaboration experience with product or technology teams for creating patient-facing digital tools.

Compensation and Benefits

  • Competitive base salary in the range of £130,000 to £140,000 annually, paired with a substantial performance-based bonus scheme.
  • Annual leave starting at 25 days, increasing to 27 days after one year and 30 days after three years, in addition to 8 bank holidays.
  • Employer-matched pension contributions up to 5%.
  • Private healthcare coverage.
  • Enhanced maternity and paternity leave options.
  • Flexible working arrangements where applicable.
  • Employee benefits including cycle-to-work and electric vehicle schemes.
  • Opportunities for external representation, internal collaboration, continuous professional development, and career growth.
  • A significant leadership role with full responsibility for operational functions, strategic influence, and direct access to senior leadership.
  • The chance to contribute profoundly to one of the UK's fastest-growing healthcare organizations.
