Job description
About the Role
Mitre 10 MEGA Hornby is a family-run Christchurch business committed to delivering outstanding service to every customer, every time. The team is now seeking an upbeat Garden Centre Team Member to join the Outdoor Garden Department on a fixed-term contract through to the end of November 2026.
This is a garden centre position with rostered hours from Tuesday to Saturday, totaling 40 hours per week. If you enjoy plants, landscaping, and helping customers choose the right products for their projects, this could be a great fit.
What You’ll Be Doing
You’ll support customers in the garden centre by helping them find suitable plants, gardening products, and the extra items needed to complete their projects successfully. The role combines customer service, product guidance, and hands-on work in a physically active environment.
What We’re Looking For
We’re after someone with a positive attitude, strong teamwork, and a genuine commitment to great service. You should be comfortable communicating with customers, managing your time well, and learning new product knowledge. Because the job involves heavy lifting and active work, a strong level of physical fitness is essential.
Experience or familiarity with garden hardware, landscaping products, green goods, or similar items would be an advantage. A personal interest in gardening, whether through your own backyard or horticultural training, would also be valuable.
Additional Information
This is a fixed-term role ending in November 2026. Applications should include both a cover letter and CV submitted through the website.
