About The Role

Greenstar seeks a skilled Fabricator-Welder for our Fabrications team located in Barkston, England. This position involves hands-on tasks to repair, maintain, and refurbish waste containers, ensuring they meet high standards of safety, function, and appearance before returning to customer use. You will operate in a dynamic environment where quality, safety, and attention to detail are crucial.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform welding, grinding, cutting, burning, and various fabrication chores assigned by the Fabrications or Maintenance Manager.
• Repair and upkeep waste containers, ensuring they are operational, secure, and presentable for users.
• Care for machinery, tools, and equipment, promptly reporting any issues.
• Collaborate with both internal teams and authorized external contractors.
• Maintain clear, hazard-free work areas prior to commencing tasks.
• Uphold excellent housekeeping standards within the fabrication yard at all times.
• Assist with workshop maintenance duties when needed.
• Complete work area cleaning after each shift and adhere to safety protocols.
• Accurately fill out and submit log sheets, tool inspections, and other required documents.
• Maintain professional communication with customers, colleagues, and site personnel while representing Greenstar.

Health and Safety

Safety is a core value at Greenstar. You must follow company safety protocols, properly use personal protective equipment (PPE), and perform hot work according to HSE standards and permit-to-work guidelines. Reporting hazards, unsafe conditions, near misses, or incidents promptly to the Fabrications Manager is expected. Participation in safety and quality workshops is also required.

Candidate Profile

• NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Fabrication & Welding or equivalent qualification.
• Solid experience with MIG welding; familiarity with other welding techniques is a plus.
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings.
• Experience operating grinders, cutting tools, and fabrication equipment.
• Strong knowledge of workshop health and safety practices.
• Excellent practical and mechanical abilities.
• Meticulous attention to detail with a dedication to high-quality work.
• Capacity to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
• Problem-solving mindset and proactive attitude.
• Reliable, safety-conscious, and motivated approach to work.
• Possession of a full UK driving license if required for operational duties.

Additional advantageous qualifications include welding certification (BS EN ISO 9606-1 or equivalent), IPAF or PASMA certification for working at height, forklift licenses (counterbalance or telehandler), experience within waste management, recycling, manufacturing, or heavy engineering sectors, hot work/fire safety training, and first aid certification.
