Job description
Role Overview
N4 Studio is looking for an experienced website copywriter who can also think like a content strategist. The work calls for someone who can create persuasive, conversion-minded website copy while staying aligned with a client’s brand voice, business goals, and content-first design approach. You should also be comfortable creating low-fidelity wireframes and content outlines so the handoff to design is smooth and efficient.
About the Company
N4 Studio is a global digital agency of roughly 60 people, focused on Webflow design, development, and growth. The team holds the distinction of being Webflow’s top Enterprise Partner worldwide and works with clients who expect thoughtful, high-quality content to match their web presence.
How the Engagement Works
This is not a permanent full-time position and it is not a one-off assignment either. Instead, the company is building a roster of reliable copywriters and strategists who can be brought in as suitable projects arise.
When a project matches your skills, you will be contacted with the scope, timeline, and a fixed project fee. You can then decide whether to take it based on your availability. If it does not suit your schedule, you can decline and may be considered again for future work.
This setup tends to suit writers who already manage a few clients, value flexibility, and prefer having a steady source of projects rather than constantly searching for new ones. Work arrives in waves, so there may be slower periods, but the team operates quickly when a project is active.
What the Work Involves
The projects are website builds for both B2B and B2C clients across a broad mix of industries. The content process generally has two parts.
The first phase is narrative and messaging strategy. In this stage, you collaborate closely with the project designer to shape the site’s story and messaging direction. This phase ends with a client-facing presentation that includes strategic content guidance and early copy ideas.
The second phase is copywriting. Here, you turn the strategic foundation into polished website copy that is optimised for SEO and AI-assisted search, remains on-brand, and moves through drafting and revisions until it is ready for design handoff.
You may be assigned to either phase or both, depending on the project and your strengths.
Skills and Experience
The ideal person has written website copy for a variety of brands and sectors, including businesses with more complex offerings. You should be able to adapt tone and voice without losing clarity or impact, and you should understand how copy works alongside design.
Experience working within design teams, or in close collaboration with them, is important. A solid understanding of SEO and how content is discovered in search, including AI-assisted search, is required.
Because all content is created and presented in Figma, you must be comfortable using that tool alongside the project designer. Experience facilitating content strategy workshops or guiding clients through messaging frameworks would also be a strong advantage.
Application Requirements
Applicants should provide their hourly rate for copywriting work and, if relevant, a separate hourly rate for narrative and messaging strategy work. Please include the currency for each rate.
You should also include a short paragraph describing the kinds of website copy projects you have handled and where you would place yourself in terms of seniority, from junior to senior.
A portfolio link or a couple of website copy samples are required for consideration.
Location
The role is fully remote. N4 Studio works with writers based in New Zealand, the UK, Europe, North America, and other regions, so applicants from anywhere are welcome as long as the quality of work is strong.
