Job description
Role overview
N4 Studio is looking for an experienced website copywriter who can also think strategically about content. The work centres on crafting persuasive, conversion-led website copy that reflects each client’s brand voice and business goals. Alongside writing, you should be comfortable shaping low-fidelity wireframes and content outlines so the design team receives a clear, practical handoff.
About the company
N4 Studio is a global digital agency of roughly 60 people focused on Webflow design, development, and growth. As Webflow’s top agency partner worldwide, the team works with ambitious brands to build digital experiences that support growth. The company operates with a distributed team across multiple time zones and values speed, strategic thinking, and high-energy collaboration.
How this role works
This is a freelance contract arrangement rather than a full-time job or a one-off assignment. N4 Studio maintains a bench of trusted copywriters and strategists who can be contacted when suitable projects arise. When a project matches your experience, the team shares the scope, timeline, and a fixed project rate, and you can decide whether to take it on based on your availability. Some periods may be busy while others may be quieter, so this setup suits writers who enjoy flexibility and steady return opportunities without constantly searching for new clients.
What the work involves
Projects typically support website builds for both B2B and B2C clients across many industries. The work usually falls into two stages. The first is narrative and messaging strategy, where you collaborate closely with the designer to define the site’s story and messaging direction, then present strategic content recommendations and early copy ideas to the client. The second is copywriting, where you turn that foundation into polished website copy that is aligned with the brand, optimized for SEO and AI-assisted search, and refined through revision rounds until it is ready for design handoff. Depending on the project, you may be assigned one stage or both.
What the team is looking for
The ideal person has a strong portfolio of website copy across a variety of industries and brand types, including businesses with complex offerings. You should be able to adapt tone and voice while keeping the writing sharp and effective. A solid understanding of how copy and design work together is important, along with prior experience collaborating with designers. You also need confidence with SEO and with how content performs in modern search environments, including AI-driven search experiences. Since all content is created and reviewed in Figma, you must be comfortable working in that tool alongside the designer. Experience facilitating content strategy workshops or helping clients build messaging frameworks is a strong plus.
Application details
To be considered, applicants must provide their hourly rate for copywriting work and, if relevant, a separate hourly rate for narrative and messaging strategy work, including the currency used. A brief paragraph describing the kinds of website copy projects you have handled and your experience level from junior to senior is also required. In addition, you must include a portfolio link or a couple of web copy examples, as applications without samples cannot be reviewed.
Location
This role is fully remote. N4 Studio works with writers located in New Zealand, the UK, Europe, North America, and other regions, so applicants from anywhere are welcome as long as the quality of work is strong.
