Role Overview
The Freelance VP, Group Strategy Director will provide senior-level strategic leadership across healthcare and life sciences accounts. Working alongside cross-functional teams, this person will shape integrated brand, communications, and commercial strategies, advise senior client stakeholders, and help deliver work that produces meaningful business results. The role calls for deep healthcare knowledge, strong commercial judgement, and a collaborative style suited to complex regional and global engagements.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop integrated strategies spanning brand, omnichannel, customer experience, and communications for healthcare and life sciences clients, covering both HCP and consumer audiences.
- Lead strategic planning meetings, executive workshops, and senior presentations that turn complex challenges into practical recommendations and measurable outcomes.
- Work closely with Client Services, Creative, Medical Strategy, Science & Regulatory, and Project Management teams to build strategic solutions aligned to commercial goals and audience insights.
- Contribute strategic thinking to new business efforts, pitch preparation, brand planning work, and client growth conversations.
- Use data, customer insight, market trends, and AI-enabled methods to strengthen strategy development, collaboration, and decision-making.
Requirements
- Multiple years of experience in healthcare communications, pharmaceutical strategy, life sciences consulting, or integrated agency strategy, with responsibility for complex regional or global client work.
- Hands-on experience creating omnichannel brand strategy, commercialisation strategy, customer experience planning, or integrated communications for pharmaceutical, biotechnology, or healthcare brands.
- Proven ability to run executive workshops, strategic planning sessions, and senior stakeholder presentations while influencing brand and business decisions.
- Strong track record of collaborating with multidisciplinary partners including Client Services, Creative, Medical Strategy, Science & Regulatory, and Project Management.
- Experience supporting new business opportunities, strategic proposals, or client growth initiatives in healthcare communications, consulting, or life sciences settings.
- Comfort using AI regularly as part of day-to-day work is preferred.
- Exposure to therapeutic areas such as oncology, immunology, rare disease, specialty care, vaccines, or consumer health is preferred.
- Experience supporting regional and global healthcare brands across EMEA, North America, and APAC is preferred.
- Familiarity with behavioural science, customer insights, ecosystem strategy, or innovation approaches to solve complex commercial challenges is preferred.
- Experience working with executive leadership to shape long-term brand, portfolio, or commercial strategy within healthcare or life sciences organisations is preferred.
