About the Medical Strategy Team
The Medical Strategy team sits within Medical Craft and turns scientific and clinical evidence into clear direction for brands and businesses. By working closely with Strategy and Creative partners, the team helps ensure communications are medically accurate, strategically relevant, and built to connect with healthcare audiences.
Role Overview
The Associate Medical Strategist plays a key role in building evidence-based medical strategies for healthcare and pharmaceutical brands. This person works with Medical Strategy, Account, and Creative teams to convert scientific information into practical recommendations, differentiated brand thinking, and compelling narratives. The role also contributes to client work, medical content, competitive analysis, and business development while maintaining scientific rigor and strategic focus.
Key Responsibilities
- Drive medical strategy conversations and shape scientific storytelling for healthcare and pharmaceutical clients by turning clinical evidence into brand positioning and strategic guidance.
- Create and review medical materials, scientific narratives, strategic outputs, and pitch assets that support client goals and business expansion.
- Evaluate therapeutic areas, clinical evidence, treatment guidelines, and competitor activity to surface strategic opportunities and insights.
- Share scientific and strategic recommendations with clients and internal stakeholders to support decisions and brand planning.
- Work alongside Strategy, Creative, and Account teams to keep medical messaging accurate, differentiated, and aligned with brand objectives.
Requirements
- At least 3 years of medical strategy experience in a healthcare communications agency, pharmaceutical company, life sciences consultancy, or similar healthcare setting, with direct ownership of strategic deliverables.
- An advanced scientific qualification such as PhD, PharmD, MD, MSc, or an equivalent degree, plus experience applying clinical and scientific evidence to brand or business challenges.
- Hands-on experience creating medical content, scientific narratives, strategic recommendations, or medical communications for healthcare audiences.
- Background in competitive analysis, literature review, or therapeutic area assessment, including presenting findings to internal teams or clients.
- Proven ability to present scientific or strategic recommendations to clients, senior leaders, or cross-functional partners and influence decisions.
- Capacity to manage several projects at once while consistently meeting deadlines and maintaining quality.
- Comfort using AI as part of everyday work is preferred.
- Agency experience supporting pharmaceutical, biotechnology, or life sciences brands across multiple therapeutic areas is preferred.
- Experience contributing to new business pitches, RFP responses, or business development initiatives is preferred.
- Mentoring junior colleagues, overseeing workstreams, or providing informal leadership is preferred.
- Experience collaborating with Creative, Strategy, and Client Services teams on integrated healthcare communications programs is preferred.
- Exposure to market access, value communications, health economics, or healthcare system strategy is preferred.
Additional Information
This is an existing opening at Klick. The base pay range for the role is CAD $125,000 to CAD $145,000. The final offer depends on several factors, including work location, education, skill set, and prior experience.
