Role Summary

Perle is looking for a freelance transcriptionist who is fluent in Akan to handle remote transcription work. This is a paid contract opportunity open to qualified contributors from any location worldwide.

What the Work Involves

You will transcribe audio files containing two speakers with separate audio channels in Akan. The files feature two clearly distinct speakers, and your output should be an accurate transcript arranged in sequence, with speaker labels and timestamps included.

• Carefully listen to Akan audio recordings with two speakers
• Convert everything spoken by each speaker into text with full accuracy
• Tag every speaker turn as Speaker 1 or Speaker 2, matching the correct channel
• Insert timestamps at the beginning of each turn in HH:MM:SS format
• Keep the transcript in order without leaving unexplained gaps

Requirements

• Near-native or native command of spoken and written Akan
• Excellent written Akan, including correct spelling, grammar, and punctuation
• Ability to work on your own and consistently meet daily output goals
• A computer and reliable internet connection are required
• You should be available for at least 4 hours per day
• Previous transcription experience is helpful but not mandatory; every applicant must clear a qualification test

Quality Expectations

• Delivered transcripts must maintain a Word Error Rate of 5% or below
• Speaker labeling must be perfect, with Speaker 1 always aligned to Channel 1
• Submissions are checked continuously, and feedback is shared quickly
• Any file that falls short of the quality bar will be sent back for revision
