Role Summary
Perle is looking for a freelance transcriptionist with fluent Oromo language skills to support a remote transcription project. This is a paid contract opportunity open to qualified contributors globally.
What the Work Involves
You will work on two-speaker audio files in Oromo where each channel is clearly separated. The task is to create a clean, accurate transcript in sequence, including speaker labels and timestamps.
- Carefully listen to Oromo audio recordings with two speakers
- Transcribe everything said by each speaker with full accuracy
- Mark every turn as Speaker 1 or Speaker 2 based on the audio channel
- Place timestamps at the beginning of each turn in HH:MM:SS format
- Keep the transcript in strict order without any unexplained skips
Requirements
- Fluency in Oromo at native or near-native level, both spoken and written
- Strong command of written Oromo, including spelling, grammar, and punctuation
- Ability to work without supervision and consistently meet daily output goals
- Access to a computer and reliable internet connectivity
- Availability for a minimum of 4 hours each day
- Previous transcription experience is helpful but not mandatory
- All contributors must clear a qualification assessment
Quality Standards
- Delivered transcripts must maintain a word error rate of 5% or lower
- Speaker labeling must be completely accurate, with Speaker 1 always matching Channel 1
- Work will be reviewed continuously, and feedback will be shared quickly
- Submissions that do not reach the required quality level will be sent back for revision
