About Catalyst and the Role

Catalyst is pioneering retail access to pre-IPO investments, aiming to democratize startup investing for everyday Americans. To date, the company has cultivated a community of over 18,000 founders, operators, and investors, organized more than 30 events in New York City, secured early institutional funding, facilitated $250,000+ in investments, and launched a beta platform serving 300 users.

Role Overview

This founding-level position is not a typical operations or marketing role. As the Head of Community & Culture, you will personify Catalyst's community presence by managing events, growing the online footprint, and becoming the recognizable face of the brand. Working directly with the founder, this role offers an opportunity to earn equity and a leadership position from the company's inception.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage and expand Catalyst's community of founders, operators, and investors.
• Organize and lead events primarily across New York City, with plans for broader reach.
• Engage closely with community members to transform contacts into active participants.
• Create and share content to elevate Catalyst’s visibility and brand online.
• Assist with hiring early team members.
• Shape and cultivate the company culture from the very beginning.

Candidate Profile

• You are an outgoing and engaging individual, comfortable connecting both in person and online.
• You have experience founding or growing a community, audience, project, or business, regardless of scale.
• You communicate effectively and persuasively in writing and speech.
• You excel at proactive problem solving and rapid execution without waiting for instructions.
• You possess a genuine interest in startups and venture capital, beyond just seeking a title.
• Prior experience is optional; demonstrated ability to deliver results is critical.

Engagement and Compensation

The role begins with a 2-3 month trial period working closely with the founder on actual company tasks, during which a monthly stipend covers your time and expenses. Following a successful trial, the position evolves into a founding executive role offering significant equity, a starting salary of $70,000 (increasing as the company grows), health and dental benefits, and an expanded leadership role encompassing growth, operations, and distribution.
