Job description
About Catalyst and the Role
Catalyst is pioneering the retail access pathway to pre-IPO investments, aiming to democratize startup investing for everyday Americans. To date, we've successfully cultivated a thriving community exceeding 18,000 founders, operators, and investors; organized over 30 events across New York City; secured early-stage institutional backing; facilitated investments totaling more than $250,000; and launched a beta platform with 300 engaged users.
Role Overview
This unique position represents a foundational leadership role. Unlike typical operations or marketing positions, you will be the public face and driving force of Catalyst's community growth and cultural development. Reporting directly to the founder, this role offers a true path to cofounder-level equity and an executive leadership seat.
Key Responsibilities
- Expand and manage our community consisting of founders, operators, and investors.
- Plan, coordinate, and lead events in New York City and later extend to other locations.
- Develop and nurture meaningful relationships to convert contacts into active community members.
- Create engaging content and maintain a visible presence across online platforms as the Catalyst brand ambassador.
- Assist in recruiting new team members as the company scales.
- Shape and cultivate the company's culture from inception, defining its early values and environment.
Candidate Profile
- Inherently outgoing and charismatic both in person and on digital channels.
- Experience building a community, audience, project, or business, regardless of scale.
- Effective and persuasive communicator, both written and verbal.
- Proactive, quick to act, and able to independently solve challenges without waiting for direction.
- Genuine enthusiasm for startups and venture capital beyond simply seeking a title.
- Prior experience is optional; strong execution and initiative are essential.
Engagement and Compensation
The role begins with a trial engagement lasting 2-3 months, during which you will collaborate directly with the founder on substantive business activities. This phase includes a monthly stipend intended to cover your time and associated expenses, providing a period to mutually assess fit.
Upon successful completion, you will transition to a founding executive role featuring significant equity ownership, a $70,000 annual salary (subject to growth aligned with company progress), comprehensive health and dental benefits, and expanded leadership responsibility spanning growth, operations, and distribution.
Additional Notes
Joining Catalyst at this stage offers the unique opportunity to construct a company from the ground up and secure a meaningful stake in its future success.
