Role Overview
This full-time school cafeteria position is focused on helping daily meal service run smoothly for students, staff, and visitors. The job involves preparing and serving food, keeping the kitchen and dining areas tidy, and supporting the rest of the team so meal service stays efficient, safe, and welcoming. It suits someone dependable, comfortable with routine work, and interested in contributing to a school community.
What You Will Do
- Prepare and portion meals in line with recipes, production records, and food safety requirements.
- Serve food and beverages courteously to students, staff, and visitors.
- Keep the kitchen, serving lines, and dining/service areas clean, organized, and safe.
- Restock cafeteria stations such as serving lines, salad bars, and milk coolers.
- Follow correct food storage, rotation, and sanitation practices.
- Help receive deliveries, put items away, and organize stock and inventory.
- Sweep, mop, and remove trash when needed to maintain cleanliness.
- Support coworkers, including stepping in to cover shifts or assist where needed.
- Complete reports and other assigned tasks on time.
- Take on other duties that help the kitchen team and school meal program operate effectively.
Qualifications
- Prior experience in food service or cleaning is preferred but not required.
- You should have a strong work ethic and be comfortable working as part of a team.
- Regular tasks and repeated procedures should feel manageable and routine.
- Basic math and computer skills are needed.
- A background check and fingerprint screening must be completed successfully.
- Reliable transportation is required.
- You should be comfortable working around children and in a school environment.
- A respectful, inclusive, and professional attitude is expected with coworkers and customers.
Work Conditions
- This is a full-time Monday through Friday role.
- Some weeks may be longer than usual.
- You may be asked to attend company events or meetings.
- The job requires standing for the entire shift.
- You must be able to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally.
- Work involves frequent bending, reaching, walking, and use of hands.
- Expect a moderately noisy kitchen with fast-paced movement.
