Food Service Utility (Full and Part Time)

Role overview

Chartwells Higher Education Dining Services is looking to hire food service utility team members for Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge. This position is available in both full-time and part-time capacities and is needed right away.

Work location

The assignment is based at Louisiana State University, 45 Dalrymple Dr, Baton Rouge, LA 70803. Applications are accepted online only.

Compensation

The hourly pay for this role ranges from $14.00 to $17.00.

Key duties

The position focuses on keeping kitchen areas clean, organized, and safe, along with supporting food service operations as needed.

• Clean floors by sweeping and mopping to meet sanitation and safety standards.
• Wash work surfaces such as tables, walls, refrigerators, and meat blocks.
• Collect trash and place it in the proper containers; clean trash cans using steam or hoses when required.
• Move supplies and equipment between storage spaces and work areas.
• Help with setting up banquet tables and front-of-house areas.
• Assist with loading, unloading, and delivering supplies and products.
• Distribute supplies, utensils, and portable equipment as needed.
• Follow all assigned sanitation and safety procedures.
• Carry out other duties assigned by the employer.

Experience and requirements

Previous dishwashing experience is preferred. Candidates must be able to perform the essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodation.

This role may include periods when work is not available because of school breaks, such as winter or summer break, when food service demand decreases or stops. During those periods, time off may be unpaid and treated as a temporary layoff. Based on business needs, you may instead be asked to work year-round, possibly at another location during break periods.
